Sign the Beast LIX: Wes Welker is still a free agent

Welker should go to Indy. He needs to end his career by playing with the two organizations that are most well known for choking when it counts - Denver and now Indy. He will fit right in.

lol, yeah Looking back on it, I was kinda crazy to raise this idea again

It would be nice to have him retire as a Patriot, but I couldn't stomach watching that guy get another helmet to helmet on a crossing route in a Pats Uni.

Never want to see him in New England again.

I never absolutely hated him for this, like so many others, but how anyone can blame Brady for the pass is beyond me. That ball could not be more centered in his hands.

It's a drop, not a bad pass.

He hasn't, and he won't be here, either.

Seriously, slot receiver is the one place where "we good" on opening night. We certainly don't need one that's an average hit away from those scrambled eggs in his head for brains - turns into an ommlette.
I certainly don't think the Pats need him but he must be pretty bad if a team like Carolina wasnt trying to sign him even before the KB injury. I suppose he could just be asking for too much money

I have never understood all the Welker hate, I more blame his agent for making him think he was going to get a four year deal or something on the FA market. Two years in Denver doesn't take away from the six in New england

The more we learn about the long term impact of repeated head trauma, I'm afraid the sad truth is that the damage is already done in Welker's case. So, playing or not playing another season is probably just a matter of how long it takes for the onset of severe cognitive impairment to start to present itself. Hopefully, advances in treatment will make his "life after 50" a little better than it has been for many others.

I hope he retires or that no team makes him a reasonable offer so he is forced to leave the game.

Why would you say that? The Pats WR situation has changed significantly in the last few weeks. There's nothing wrong with resurrecting a thread about actual football in a sea of Deflategate threads. You're a great new poster and have brought a breath of fresh air and enthusiasm to the board. Haters are gonna hate, don't let them affect you.

The Pats signed mush for brains Austin Collie so the thought is not far fetched. I could see BB bringing Wes back after the final cut downs. Wes is two years removed from a 10 TD season and would be a nice red zone addition for us with his shiftiness. He wouldn't be ask to do a ton here but like Wayne he would provide fine dept.

Give me a break. A drop should erase the hundreds of crucial 3rd down catches Welker has made for this team. It was a difficult catch to make, in the air, on his back, twisting and turning. Pats don't even make the SB without him.

Welker is proven for this team, and the Pats WRs are dropping like flies. Not that out of the ordinary to have him back.

Personally, I have no interest in seeing Welker signed. They guy should retire...he's taken too many concussions already. There's a reason Denver didn't re-sign him

I love you Wes, you are the one jersey I bought. But please retire and do commentary, you proved you are hilarious with your "foot soldier" presser. :)

PS If you do end up playing please not the Jets or Bills, that would really piss us off.

Welker is one headshot away from Leon Spinks territory....anyone who signs him should be ashamed of themselves

Wes was a fantastic Patriot, but a) the guy needs to be out of the game for his own safety, I really hope nobody signs him. And b) I just don't think he's good enough to warrant a spot on the 53 when we already have so many guys capable of playing out of the slot (Amendola, Edelman, even LaFell did at times in Carolina).

If the door was even remotely open on this, I think the Wayne signing shut it. You can only have so many veteran WRs on the bottom half of your depth chart who don't contribute on ST.

Thanks Galeb! That means a lot :)
