@PatriotsInform: From what I'm hearing, Edelman and Dobson are both fully healthy and should practice this week. LaFell is on schedule still for week one.

We could line up Edelman at 3rd down back on some downs with all these weapons like the Packers do with Cobb.

I do believe that he posted the best pass coverage numbers of all 2013 rookie CBs, since then he's done nothing to make you believe he did that 2 years ago.

His numbers were completely fraudulent, as a lot of us were pointing out. He's never been any good.

I like the signing, low risk high reward it seems. As long as he's smarter than Ocho we are good. Wayne can be a solid role player for us. Plus, this may give LaFell and Gibson time to heal and they can come back fresh for the second half of the season. Maybe Wayne can be a good mentor too.

Lol good point, and Ryan is the one who actually spent more time with Revis... Explain that one...

In 2013 an even last year Ryan was serviceable and sometimes pretty good. He is not a man to man guy. He just doesn't have the skill. He might be pressing a little too now.

It would not surprise me that Ryan is trying to do the things Revis told him to do but just can't.

I think there are players that are so physically and mentally gifted regular players can't comprehend how they do what they do.

Its like having Pedro Martinez as your pitching coach.

"Just throw it 99mph high and inside twice with a little tail on it, then throw a 12 to 6 curve low and inside then a 72pmh change up with the same arm motion that starts 5 feet on the outside part of the plate then tails back in on paint an inch above his knees.. That'll do.."

Well we will see what happens. Either way salary being equal Wayne is a better option this year than any of the 5th WRs we were looking at and frankly I would rather keep Harper/Wayne/Dobson over Homman/other 3rd TEs right now.

It has been a while since we have gone to just 2 TEs on the roster but I think it is on the table and if we have enough good WRs why not? Flemming/Develin can inline blocking duties. Maybe even Cannon can.

Also this being the case I would assume

Edelman
Lafell
Amendola
Dobson
Wayne

PS/6th spot - Harper

Gibson gets cut and a thank you for his service with hopes he gets to play somewhere else this year.

Love this signing ...........
2014 Reggie Wayne:
64 recs for 779 yards

2014:
Gronk - 82 rec .... 1124 yards
Edelman 92 rec .... 972 yards
LaFell 74 rec ... 953 yards

2013:
Edelman 105 rec ... 1056 yards
Amendola 54 rec ... 633 yards

So what does this mean for Dobson and Boyce

Not sure about Boyce but hopefully Dobson has a degree to fall back on.

Truth is I find it amazing Dobson is still on this roster considering he has had like three acceptable at best games in two seasons.

We know he can catch, but can he get separation still?

You don't find it amazing then that Boyce still has a job, either? Lol

From what I saw before he got injured he definitely held his own. Against us before bein injured he had two nice catches and seperation was there. I'm not sayin he's a world speed beater but getting open and running crisp routes will move chains and score TDs.

The signing of any WR doesn't deserve the time to read 6 pages of posts to make sure I'm not being redundant, so pardon me if I am. ;)

1. Depending on the contract and how much is guaranteed, this is solid signing that could be great, or might not mean anything on September 9th.

2. If his knee and triceps injuries affected him that much last season, the sad sack WR we saw in the AFCCG might not be who we are getting mow,

3. At his worst Wayne is a consummate presice route runner, which fits in perfectly what we do here. Being where you are supposed to be at the right time is more important in this offense than being able to run by someone or out jump them. (though those things are good too)

4.If what we hear is true, and Edelman and Dobson are due to practice this week, then Wayne may be just a good sense signing to protect us against Tyms and Gibson's injuries.

5. We will only keep 5 pure WR's on the roster. Edelman, Amendola, LaFell are locks Dobson is a lock if he remains healthy the rest of the preseason. That leaves one opening for the rest. Given the injury situation, it will come down to the how far Wayne has slipped, vs the potential of Harper. Most likely it will be Harper to the PS (if we can clear waivers) with Boyce on the outside (a bitter disappointment to me) Tyms on the IR and Gibson on the return IR
