Are there still any moves Belichick can make to strengthen the secondary?

Something tells me we should've selected a second CB in the draft :( But now that Roberts is injured, is there anything Bill can do to improve our secondary?

P.S. Not trying to overreact to the recent injury report.... but I'd be curious to know if the Pats still have options before the season kicks off

With cuts coming sit back and wait to see if he likes any others teams scraps.

Uuuhhh . . . Earthwind Moreland and Troy Brown?

I don't think Roberts was going to play a significant role in the secondary this year anyways. He was just a developing depth/ST's player. That doesn't mean BB won't add another CB if Roberts; injury is as bad as reported, but what's out there isn't likely to be anyone that will significantly improve the physical talent on the team by much.

BTW- I don't get all the dark feelings I'm getting about the state of the secondary after just 2 pre-season games. This secondary as it stands right now is WORLD's better than the one we went to the superbowl with in 2011. Besides I don't think the secondary is doing nearly as badly as its being portrayed. Besides think about this. So far this preseason the Pats have faced Rodgers and Brees without game planing or much blitzing.

Hoping the Packers might cut Ladarius Gunter. He's the guy that gave Josh Boyce a working over. He's not the quickest, but he's a really good press-man corner. Played really well in the Senior Bowl.

Is Dre Kirkpatrick guaranteed a role on the Bengals this year bearing in mind that they've got Dennard, Leon Hall and Pacman? There's a guy I'd consider giving up a 3rd rounder for.

Sean Smith is in the final year of his deal in KC & he is also suspended. They also drafted Marcus Peters 18th overall. Potential Talib type trade scenario.

I think that there is a secondary in place of players who have had success. Butler seems to be ready, although I am skeptical.
Brown has been a starting corner on very good defenses. Fletcher has started most of his career and been effective more than not, struggling mostly when left in man on a top WR. Ryan was a role player on a very good defense last season.
McCourty is a top flight S and there are many options opposite him that seem to be a good situational rotation.
It will be different than last year, but it will be different than every year. Fans will complain when we play soft with a lead and win comfortable but allow big stats. When push comes to shove, and the game is on the line we seem to have enough talent and depth up front to pressure the QB and enough depth and talent in the secondary to cover.
Sure, it would be great to have a Revis on one one side, but otherwise, we are as strong as we have been in many other successful seasons.

See if Revis has had enough of the **** show in the Meadowlands and wants to "resign as CB of the NYJ?" :D

I'm gonna wait and see who is available when it's time for cuts. That being said, I'm disappointed Roberts is hurt and may be done for the season. I'm hoping Bradley fletcher and Logan Ryan step up big then. Any chance Dax Swanson or Jimmy Jean can contribute?

Probably not much we can do. Maybe Ike Taylor or Carlos Rogers as they might be the best FAs out there but IDK.

You would need to trade for anyone decent though and IDK what we would trade and for whom.

Personally I think Butler/Brown is not a horrible 1/2 I think McCourty at safety will help a lot too.

I worry about the depth but i want to see what it looks like with all the top guys in the proper places.

Dennard but I suspect that boat sailed long ago. He must have lost his rookie's desire.

Is Dre Kirkpatrick guaranteed a role on the Bengals this year bearing in mind that they've got Dennard, Leon Hall and Pacman? There's a guy I'd consider giving up a 3rd rounder for.
Last I saw, Hall was the question mark there. Sounds like they really want to give Kirkpatrick a chance to build on last year's end to the season. Hall could be an option if he's cut, but that $7.7M salary should prevent any trade unless there's major restructuring involved.

When has the team at the start of the season ever had the same roster by the end ? Heck, Patriots manage the roster week to week. So I trust BB to fix this as we go forward with the best he can.

What's Hank Poteat doing?
