[Mod edit] Self Righteous Hypocrite: Cris Carter's advice to NFL rookies

Perhaps this is a harbinger of the mighty falling.. one can only hope. What goes around, comes around.

"What will we tell the Children???"

I would love to see the NFLPA send out a memo to their membership asking for other instances of NFL actions of this nature.....The fact that they wanted to drug test Borland AFTER his retirement and he was smart enough to NOT trust the league by getting his own test done is telling enough.
Look at the message a month ago and now. The tide has turned and it is the league that is being reactive. They will be too busy putting out Cris Carter brush fires today to leak any false Brady info..at for a day or so...

Tom Brady may have been "generally aware" of a small scheme to deflate footballs = No integrity

Troy Vincent hires a prostitue solicitor and another individual who advises for a "fall guy" to talk and give advice to incoming rookie talent = Lots of integrity

I'm late to the party, but this has been on their site for over a year and they are just now taking it down and being outraged about it?

the NFL immediately didn't like CC's comments and removed that part from future discussions, but thought it a good idea to keep the media part of it available and only apologize once they were caught?

Any followup to that year's rookie class to make sure they didn't take CC's words to heart?

Any reporting on this other than stirring up people?

While the nfl is concerned with the integrity of the game they totally forgot all about the integrity of life.

The video is now up on Youtube over a half dozen listings, with hundreds of thousands of combined views. It isn't coming down; it is now a permanent part of NFL history.

This is one of the best:

(Plus, I grabbed it off of there so it will never be erased!).

What a joke, the NYJFL calling it a "comment "

A "comment " would have been CC saying quickly "get yourself a fall guy" end of story.

When you discuss something for 2-3 minutes that becomes a lecture and "how to" , not a comment.

I have never minded people pointing out when players and teams break rules and should be punished for that. Spygate was wildly overblown but the Patriots DID break a rule. So even though the punishment was insane for that infraction, they still should have been punished.

What kills me is when people muster this moral outrage. Consider two recent examples:

(1) Jerry Rice, ripping Brady and the the Patriots for cheating and trying to get an unfair edge. Then it was made known that Rice used illegal stickum during his playing days. Rice quickly backpedaled, trying to claim that he didn't know it was illegal, but his final "defense" was that "everyone did it".

(2) Cris Carter, as we have seen in this thread. Ripping Brady and the Patriots for cheating and violating the integrity of the game. Oh, but if you do something ILLEGAL, you should get a "fall guy" to protect yourself.

It's perfectly ok to point out wrongdoing. It's NOT ok to spout this moral outrage especially when you yourself have violated rules or have cheated or whatever.

Rice and Carter, both hall of famers, have utterly embarrassed themselves in this entire deflate episode.

Isn't Carter one of those guys who has been saying Brady should have just admitted he did something?

I have always liked how Carter says exactly what is on his mind, but have also always felt he snuck his way onto his high morale grounds without being ID'd.

Sports Illustrated's Monday Morning Quarterback did a 2014 article on that rookie symposium and, while they cover the Cris Carter presentation, they withheld the offensive part. In today's MMQB column, Peter King hypocritically condemns Carter's presentation, but makes no mention of MMQB's complicity in covering it up.

What other media was there and why didn't they report it? Great illustration of the complicit nature between sports media and NFL.

Chris Carter is now on youtube:

Just out of curiosity the view count on this link was 89. Wonder what it will be tomorrow.

UPDATE: This video went from 89 views last night to 60,000 in about 12 hours.

While I'm at work and haven't heard every last word, I've not heard 1 mention of this! Shocking huh? Even if they have mentioned it they've had to say it just like Well's footnotes.

New paradigm:

Sports commentators are really NYJFL minions with a byline.

They discussed on First Take. I didn't listen to the whole conversation but they seemed to say this was a dumb thing for him to do. "Great Guy blah blah, Love the guy.....blah blah.... What in the hell was he thinking? blah blah.......dumb move...blah blah....He is really sorry"

Any bets on if he's on the countdown crew tonight? ??

This is no different from rappers having weed carriers in the crew. Guys(usually childhood friends) whose only job is to take the charge for the star when the cops come

The only thing missing from that video is Carter saying "it worked for Ray".

That is almost as dumb as not paying the two prostitutes in your hotel room.
