Whoever thought the Hammer had a chance needs brain surgery...move along there is nothing else here to see.

Not a surprise at all. I still think that, once given a real chance by a serious franchise, he will shine.

Have seen some Texans preseason and check their boards occasionally to follow all the Pats refugees. The fan base has been enamoured with Mallet's big arm and mostly disparages Hoyer's 'game management' style. But Hoyer has been getting the job done and Mallet hasn't.

He is what he is. A game manager and nothing more. That still is good enough to start in the NFL cause 32 QBs can't even do that properly at this level. Good for him.

Except the game Mallet played and got hurt last season and just lit it up but i agree Hoyer is a gamer.
Heres a question if Cassel gets released do we sign him as a third QB?

The last time Cleveland committed, it was to Baltimore.

That was capitulation.. not commitment.

BTW let me bring this up for the NinetyNineteenth time why has anyone on talk radio ore media in general ever asked Mallett, Hoyer, Cassell or any of the other back up QB's here if they were aware of any Brady Equipment shenanigans?? Have heard Zolak speak endlessly about how he was responsible for the game balls that were used as that was the role of a back up QB.....

It deserves to be brought up another 99 times. It needs to make its way into the national press...who here does all that tweating to our friends in the media? This should be brought up firmly: if Brady were a habitual ball manipulating cheat, why haven't the back ups that played with him ever questioned, by the NFL or the press?

Hoyer is probably one of the better game-manager level QBs in the league right now. I really liked how he managed things in Cleveland despite all the shenanigans and having Money Manziel behind him. With a lot less stupid sh*t going on in Houston, I wouldn't be surprised if the team won 11 games. Watt's amazing, Wilfork provides great leadership, and Hopkins is one of the best young WRs in the game. Could be a good team. Too bad Foster got hurt again.

ehh, im kind of surprised they didnt go with Mallet. Is Hoyer any better than Fitzpatrick? At least Mallet has some upside

Mallett hasn't shown me much. In the battle of the backups- Cassell, Hoyer, Garrapolo, and Mallett, I would put Mallett last.

The guy did a QB sneak for 3 yards 2 weeks ago (didn't make it obviously, it's a play that goes 2 yards on its best day). I was like WTF, who makes that call? Then I saw hard knocks he just got confused and that wasn't the right play. He may be dumber than a box of rocks.

"He may be dumber than a box of rocks" reminds me of what they used to say about Terry Bradshaw and he went on to win 4 Super Bowls.

It's also what they said about Jamarcus Russell and he went on to win no Super Bowls.

I like Hoyer. I think that team will do well. BOB is in charge, they have solid vets to keep the locker in line, their D is more than fine. Cleveland was awful for him.

The Steelers won those SBs because of their legendary Defense and very solid running game, not because of Bradshaw.
