Joe Thomas backs brady, rips Goodell

He still implies Brady did something though...

IMO Joe Thomas is the best offensive lineman in the NFL over the last 10 years. Great to at least hear he supports Brady.

Most people outside of NE are not invested in the case as us like reading the wells report or looking at all the transcripts. They are just reacting to what they know

I think that perception is going to linger no matter what, I'll take what I can get at this point. Thomas is a HOF caliber player and one of the most respected in the league. Him speaking in Brady's favor even as much as he had is a positive development.

I'll go a step further and say he's the best offensive lineman I've ever seen. Can't say there's never been anyone better, but if there has he was before my time.

Anthony Munoz I would still say for me is the greatest I've ever seen.

you guys think Hog Hannah was some schlep, eh?

I agree that Goodell has fed a lot of controversy in the offseason, boosting ratings like a soap opera. It is a twisted kind of brilliance.

"I would equate what [Tom Brady] did to driving 66 [mph] in a 65 speed zone, and getting the death penalty,"

Fixed:

While his point is valid about the crime vs punishment, I bet Joe Thomas would be singing a slightly different tune if the entertainment was using him the same way it's using Brady.

I'm sure Brilliant wouldn't be in the top 20 words.

I don't think he's necessarily saying Brady's guilty, he's just commenting on the punishment recieved for the offense of which Tom was found guilty (by the NFL). I think it's unreasonable to think that other players in the league are going to come out and say, "TB definitely did/didn't do what he's accused of."
Their support is going to come in the form of Thomas or Sherman, who know that cheating happens on just about every play (offensive holding and defensive PI respectively). I think most/all players assume they are supposed to push the envelope to gain a competitive advantage, and if they are caught, it's a ten yard penalty, not a 4 game suspension/$2 million fine.

Acceptably mild, if you read it as a suggesting that the Pats snuck something past the refs, not that they deflated the balls after the refs' check.

Hell, I even suspect that "vigorous rubbing" and other factors that BB says inflate the pressure before the game have the effect of letting the Pats play with slightly soft footballs. If that's the case, it's milder than the sideline heaters, and squarely in the gray area where the league would have been wrong to penalize, but right to send a memo saying "cut it out".

That too. Indeed, it echoes Kessler's analogy of 1 mile over the speed limit, measured in a very unreliable manner.

Like an officer guaging speed by eye, with a radar gun sitting on his lap.
