Because he is done.

He is not done. He had 779 yards and 64 receptions last year. That's better than any receiver on the pats not named gronk, lafell or edelman.

He was talking about Moss

Sums up my thoughts. I think having a vet like him is important for young guys, but not at the expense of HAVING those young guys who have shown promise.

If Harper has a legit chance at making the roster because of what he's shown then I might take him over a 1 year flyer at Reggie and potentially losing a kid who looks like he may get it and has show some pretty decent return skills.

He'll fit into multiple roles. Reggie will be a mentor and depth chart hog more than a receiver.
Pats already have plenty of seasoned vets at WR -- Super Bowl winning vets. I'm surprised they're interested in Wayne; last I saw he had nothing left in the tank. I'd like to see him prove otherwise but am not holding my breath.

Yeah great post. Good thing you are getting likes for it.

Too bad I was talking about Moss - which was pretty clear, and not Wayne who I pretty clearly support coming here.

Some of you need to post less.

quit being so sensitive. I made a mistake, ok? I didn't make a personal attack on you - just disagreeing on what I thought was a comment about Reggie Wayne in a thread about Reggie Wayne.

I would sign Reggie right away given GB's wide receiver situation

I accept your apology

Yeah, I would probably make extra effort to sign Wayne now if there is indeed a fit. His stock just went up

If Reggie signs, I'll be the first to welcome him. Hopefully he can help us. I would have rather signed Mathis or a second corner but anyone that can help us I'm all for!!!!

Wayne was brought in on the 90th roster spot. He was not brought in as a result of Gibson's injury; as it has been reported he was in NE last night before Gibson was hurt. I don't think it hurts to take a look. He was recovering from an ACL last year and tore his triceps...he still put up 779 yards. Usually it takes a second year after an ACL to regain explosion. If he has nothing left, cut him. If he does have something left, Wayne lining up against 3rd CB/safety is an excellent match up. Personally, I'm rooting for him just to stick it to Irsay, Grigson, and the Colts. It would kill Colts fans to see Reggie go out with a ring as a member of the Patriots...like it killed Pats fans to see Vinatieri win one as a Colt.

What is the purpose in signing Wayne? Is he going to take reps away from Edelman? LaFell? Amendola? Gronk? Is a 36/37 year old Wayne better then a 28 year old Gibson at 4th WR and if so how much better? Does it really matter?

Someone HAS to be hurt for this to happen.

Yes, 5 WR are hurt, including 2 starters.

Actually majority are handling it pragmatically. I thought it will all be Jersey burning hysteric over there.

He was playing around with the Colts check the Patriot locker room for Bugs story.

I like the idea of signing Wayne, and then beating the Colts and the Donks with him at one of our WR positions. Long in the tooth but he's been such a good player over the years. I feel he beats corners with his moves rather than his speed anyways. He would upgrade our 2nd/3rd option until Lafell comes back healthy.

My comment is in regards to week 1. We don't know. If Wayne is signed....then one of the top 3 WR's are not expected to play the 1st week....at least...IMO.

Yes, we should probably get another body in here. We dont know if anyone will be ready or if someone else will go down. Get him in here.

Gibson left last nights game, mixed reports on severity, Tyms is rumored to have a severe injury, Edelman hasn't practiced in nearly 2 weeks, doesn't seem serious, LaFell is still on the PUP and no word of when he'll be ready, and Dobson is battling I believe a hamstring issue, hamstrings, like feet, tend to be lingering issues if not 100% healed, that leaves Amendola and a few undrafted rookies.

Edit: And as noted, Wayne arrived in NE while we were playing, it's not related to Gibson but Gibson injury gives the team more incentive to sign Reggie.

I'm still in favor of keeping a young guy like Harper over Reggie if Harper continues to show he belongs AND offers what looks to be pretty good as a returner.

I only want Reggie if some of the injuries are more serious than we've been led to believe, otherwise he's stealing a roster spot from someone with future potential who may not make it to the PS based on his performance.

It's good to let the rookies get reps in training camp and pre season. Bringing in an old vet is counter-productive to that. If Wayne is signed....it's not to take away reps from rookies...it's to replace Edelman, LaFell or Amendola. I am not happy to see this as others are.
