Interesting. Read from the bottom up.

@Watooosh @BenVolin Kraft started the conversation. Told Brady the team was not going to pay 18% of cap to 1 QB in a couple years.

@ikkarus1 @kjpmacdonald The things I look for, it doesn't matter whom they're playing.

Greg A. Bedard ‏@GregABedard 29m29 minutes ago
@BenVolin Kraft told Brady it was "untenable" for him to make $20 million going forward.

@BenVolin If TB was making $20 mill & they were happy with JB, TB's not lasting past a year or two with or without another SB.

Greg A. Bedard ‏@GregABedard 35m35 minutes ago
@BenVolin Didn't hurt, but BB is all about valuation. When TB agreed to take half money, it flipped the equation.

@GregABedard last year's Super Bowl probably bought Brady a little more time, wouldn't you say?

Greg A. Bedard retweeted Matt Fitz
Before TB cut his pay in half, I said they could move on after this season. Contract is x factor. I don't know

Matt Fitz @Matfitz22
@GregABedard when do you think JG becomes the Pats starter? Is 2016 a possibility?

This conversation sucks, for now. Be happy having a capable backup to the G.O.A.T. and lets talk about a possible replacement in two years or when/if injury & performance issues come up.

How exactly does anyone know what Kraft said to Brady?
I've read that before as well. The article quoted Kraft directly. The total context was about how much of a team player Brady was and how much he understood the economics of the game and how small of a window teams really have to truly contend for a SB.

Are these the same people who said Brady was washed up after 2 games last season?

Maybe they need to re-watch the 2nd half of the most recent SB.

If they don't then I'll be more than happy to re-watch it for them.

Sounds like Mort with his "sooner rather than later" BS last year....can't remember if he was talking about trading or benching Brady.

Ah, ne, just more overly speculative crap from the Peter King Nework. Get use to it. Every time JG completes 3 passes in a row, we are going to get some article or tweet like this. Here are the facts:.

1, Brady is under contract to the NE Patriots THROUGH the 2017 season at a very reasonable cap number.

2. He is going to be the Patriots starting QB at least through the end of the 2017 season

3; IMHO, JG is not gong to be ready to become a true starting NFL QB until the beginning of the 2017 season. Until that time all he likely can be is a an adequate back up while he is learning. By 2017 he SHOULD have had enough time to get ready. He still has a steep learning curve to cover over the next 2 seasons. So far, so good, but the whether he can become a quality NFL starting QB is still in doubt....or should be to any intelligent observer..

4. JG is under contract to the Patriots through the end of the 2018 season

5. The Patriots really don't have to worry about any of this until the END of the 2017 season. At THAT point they will have to evaluate where Brady still is, and what JG has developed into, and make a decision where they want to go if they want to maximize JG's value.

6. The start of the 2018 season is like a generation away from now. In other words a long long time from now n NFL years, and I will hate to think I have another 3 full seasons of useless speculation to deal with from mediots who clearly have nothing better to do. Wake me up at the END of the 2017 season, and I'll be happy to discuss the issue. Until then, this will be my final post on the topic.

I think Bedard is agreeing with you when talking about Brady taking less money flipping the equation.

I fully expect an all out assault by ESPN and other haters with non stop QB controversy stories over the coming weeks. Another way of undermining... again.

For me.. Brady starts until his arm cannot go forward.

I don't understand people. Rivers just got a big extension, so has Newton and lots of others, and they have never won a Super Bowl or even been to one. Yet, people just hate one Brady.
How many Bradys are they supposed to hate?

Anyone remember this gem?
Proposed trade No. 1:
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to the Texans for Houston's 2015 first-round draft pick and wide receiver Andre Johnson

Before you scroll down to the comments section and leave the obligatory nasty note, consider that we asked a current NFL general manager if this incendiary, social media-exploding potential deal was plausible.

"Absolutely," he said. "It actually makes too much sense. The players in the Patriots' locker room know that their days are numbered. That's just the way it is in New England."

This reminds of the "growing disconnect" between Brady & The Pats story of a few years ago...I believe it was first reported by whiny Michael Silver.... How'd that work out for ya?
