Devin McCourty To play cb again?

It's been brought up a couple times but not discussed extensively, to my knowledge. I think the Patsfans(TM) consensus is "it's just practice", but I'm not convinced we won't see at least a little McCourty at CB, even if it's so Harmon can be the 5th DB instead of some mediocre to bad CB. It's all about getting the best players on the field, and I think Harmon is a starting quality player.

I think it's a depth issue ... when McCourty at CB for a particular game or plays makes sense due to injuries ... they have it in there. I like the 'they have it in there plays' .... won us a Super Bowl. There's also Patricia totally confusing a QB also moving everyone around ... will be a fun season if we have good health.

I'm absolutely sure that DMac will play some CB. But mostly because he did that last year, and now we are in a worse spot with corners, and probably a little better at S than we where last year.

I certainly don't think that it will be a full move to corner. Just that we will have some packages where Dmac is corner and Harmon comes in at safety.

Dmac played some CB last year (aka safety on an island at the LOS) and will do so again this year. It is something they will do maybe 5-10% of the time depending on situation and personnel.

He is doing it extensively right now cause we have some questions about who we want to keep at the back end on safety.

My reaction to seeing him as CB would entail a *****y voice. It would go something like this:

"Mother ****er."

If Harmon becomes something and McCourty can play an at least nearly as high level at CB as he plays at Safety, then I say go for it.

I like that he's versatile enough to play some corner, so I think some snaps there in TC are definitely a good thing. Belichick values versatility a ton. But with the personnel at safety, I'd be surprised to see him take significant snaps (more than he did last year, basically) at corner.

Overall, I think he's a pretty good corner and an elite FS, so the only way moving him to corner for more than the occasional snap would make sense is if the talent behind him at safety was much better than the talent at corner, which I don't think is the case with this team.

There's no harm in using McCourty at CB and getting him ready for it makes complete sense. Tonight will start to clarify corner IMO.

That was ugly...remember why we moved him to safety now?

McCourty on if the CB move is permanent: I don’t know. When you’re a player. You just go out there and play. We don’t know the plan

McCourty on the Cooks TD: That was my fault. I’ve got to stay on top and help Duron out. Just got to make a better play.

Was moving back to corner just like riding a bike again? McCourty: "No. Not at all."

Devin McCourty called the move to cornerback "frustrating" but added it really doesn't matter what he thinks or feels. It's up to coaches

Butler and Brown as the corners. McCourty at safety. Ryan at K-mart, if he keeps this up.

That's a similar perspective to my job. Usually I'm at my spot and nail it every time...but I'm occasionally called on to do something different. How I feel is irrelevant; I'll produce where I go.

They should bulk Logan Ryan up and move him to SS. He has deficiencies covering WRs, but he can really tackle. stuck at least a couple in that Saints game.
