What happens this winter

From early on thought the answer to this brouhaha would be to do a study of footballs/climate for the upcoming season to assess the impact of weather and use on the pressure of footballs.. but that would have been too easy, the NFL prefers to pay millions for crappy science..

This could have been done by paying some college kids to monitor and log football pressure or something like that...

Oh, it's disgusting to think of how this could've been put to rest way back in January--just disgusting.

Any commissioner who would allow this to hang over the freaking SB is a total moron. I knew right then that he was going balls to the wall. What a shame this has all been.

and from brutal outdoor venues like
-dolphins /sun life stadium
-Raymond James stadium
-Qualcom stadium (San Diego)

But, the IGL says that footballs used in those games will gain pressure rather than lose it...

I understand your point, but I think that those measurements are always going to have to come via the NFL. In other words, CBS isn't going to be able to measure the footballs, so they'll be forced to report the NFL's "findings."

Goodell and the NFL aren't going to be able to turn back now. They'll be doubling down like madmen on this specific issue.\.
And when some body brings a football and a gauge to an outdoor cold weather game and live blogs the results, watch it go viral on YouTube, Instagram, twitter etc........ When the NFL doesn't control the message they lose...... They can control the PR with their minions, but not the science...mainly because they are too f'n stupid......

I doubt NBC would have the cajones to let Florio do it live on a Sunday night game in November or December. November 26 Pats/Broncos- 8:30 start would be a perfect time....... I doubt that game is getting flexed out...

The NFL is going to be controlling all the testing and data. They won't dare say they got the Wells Report wrong by contradicting their conclusion. Anyone who can think for themselves and logically (and took 9th grade science) understands that pressure drops in cold weather.

the NFL will never receive info that makes them look bad. Kraft and other owners should push for this to be public info, but they wont, because it will make roger look like an even bigger ******.

Kraft starting on the Oct 29 night game and the other 3 reg season home games plus home playoff games, should prepare a game ball, to 12.5 psi, show the temp in the room the ball was inflated in.
show the process in the stadium. Bring the ball thermometer and pressure gauge outside to the field, with a camera continuing to document the process, and displaying the procession to the big screen in the stadium.

Place the ball on a pedestal with the measuring equipment, so everyone will know that the same eq was used for the entire time. Display the temp at halftime on the reference thermometer, show the anticipated psi as per the IGL, then measure the psi using the reference gauge, displaying the measurement on the big screen in the stadium. Compare measurement to the IGL.

Perhaps return the ball inside at the end on the game again on the big screen show the temp in the room, take the psi measurement and display on the big screen as the fans are leaving, announce all measurements on the PA system,

Have Stacy James issue a press release after each game.

Who here actually believes that Bob "Vichy" Kraft would allow any such thing as this?
Really?
Bob is great at glad handed bloviation. Words. But when it comes to taking substantive action...

Not I, sir. He's good at calling press conferences then going behind closed doors and hanging with his billionaire buddies to be a "collective 32." That's what's most important to him.

Well if he really wants to defend the wall he can, plus entertainment for the fans in the stadium.

LOL, I wouldn't go measuring the GB balls at any game….they are likely to come in at spec because Rodgers likes to submit them well over.

All the NFL has to do is start measuring about 15 minutes after they bring the balls in and presto magico the Patriots balls are outliers.

See- what they did with Colts balls.

As posters have stated the opportunities for cooked experimental results are legion
