Guess which player had the most receptions from Brady and Garoppolo in 11's?

Surprise - it was none other than Boyce!

Most catches from Brady in 11s: Amendola 33, Gronk 28, Boyce 20, Gibson 19, Bolden 17, Hooman 13, Edelman 11, Chandler 7, White 9, Dobson 8

Most catches from Garoppolo in 11s: Boyce 25, Gibson 20, Krause 16, White 13, Tyms 12, Cadet 11, Amendola 10, Gronk 10, Hooman 7, Mundine 9

So Boyce had 45, Amendola 43 and Gronk 38.

Also I'm guessing Boyce's receptions in general had a higher degree of difficulty than the mostly short-to-intermediate stuff for the others.

Everyone has (justifiably) been down on Boyce, but looks to me he deserves some credit as well.

Yeah.....I'm fine just sticking with the vets. Aside from Edelman we haven't really developed anybody aside from Givens and Branch. Boyce and Tyms are scrubs and Dobson might be worth something if he can get healthy but I'm more than fine with just sticking with some vets. At least we're near the top, if not the best, at developing O-linemen. Protect Brady and give him some weapons and he'll get you in a top 3 offense.

He has been your typical definition of camp fodder. With LaFell, Edelman, Chandler, and Tyms being injured, who else would you expect to catch the passes in practice? The coaching staff likely wanted to see if he improved in certain areas, considering that he was cut last summer and returned to the PS.

I'd be fine with him returning to our PS, considering that he knows the system and could be used in an attempt to see if he continues to develop at all. Of course, the coaching staff may feel that his chance has been used up.

Boyce did not look good in the first game. Some of the throws from Garoppolo were poor, but what really bothered me was he did not seem to fight for the ball. It was that quality of fighting for the ball that made Tyms stand out last year. Having said that, Boyce does possess exceptional athletic talent and the receiver position is one which often takes time to master at the pro level. I would still like to see another preseason game or two from him.

Seems to me that Brady is more trusting of Amendola and Gronk over Boyce, whereas Garoppolo seems to always look for Boyce first (at least from what I saw during the first pre-season game) even over Gronk or Amendola (just going by the numbers posted, didn't see the practice or anything).

Only point I am making here is that if Dobson & LaFell injuries continue to be an issue, Boyce could be a surprise survivor of the first (or conceivably even second) round of cuts and could certainly still end up on the PS.

I absolutely agree he was terrible against GB.

Just hoping BB gets sick of Dobson's fragility too and he and Boyce are both axed, so the 2013 WR class can be put to its deserving grave.

I hope Dobson gets sick of his ***ility too and gets over it. The kid has NFL starter level or better talent (at least physically, brains seem to be lacking on most of our drafted WR's).

Patriots need to hire Randy Moss to consult and have final say on drafting WR's

Beats the hell out of whoever currently has final say on college WRs.
