REPORT: Patriots WR Brian Tyms 2015 Season May Be Over

Unless Gibson gets hurt, he will be on the roster, 100%.

Tyms may be looking good in practice, but Slater is also out there making catches. Anyone feel confident in that happening week 1 and beyond?

Reggie Wayne is done. His roll in the Colt's offense dwindled last year and he is trying to rebound from a torn tricep at age 36. The WR starved Bears and Panthers have both looked away from him. He never gets open anymore and that is only going to be worse this year.

@jeffphowe: Brian Tyms dealing with serious injury http://t.co/kLsDuwAB1A

Patriots wide receiver Brian Tyms just had his best stretch of training camp, but it all came crashing to a halt in West Virginia.

Tyms suffered an injury that was described as "not good." A trip to injured reserve sounds like a possibility.

The details still remain foggy, but it's a brutal blow for Tyms, who caught five passes from Tom Brady during practice Saturday and Monday. He rebounded well after a slow start to camp that only featured one catch from Brady through 10 practices, largely due to a shoulder injury that sidelined him for about a week.

@DougKyedNESN: Also hearing prognosis doesn't sound positive. Seems like IR is possible. https://t.co/W8gOtfFBYU

Tough break. WR group appears set:

Edelman
Lafell
Amendola
Gibson
Dobson

PS: Harper
Kick Rocks: Boyce
I disagree. WR5 is very unsettled.

I'm hopeful but what has Dobson done to deserve a roster spot? At least Gibson plays ST and made some good catches vs GB.

He has time but not much.

The Qbs constantly targeted him on the field, they must have faith he can get it done or he wouldnt of been given so many oppurtunities.
Also he was the scout receiver in mimicking players such as TY Hilton and Torrey Smith.
Hes been given offseason and practice awards.
Why he doesnt put it all together because he seems to have a good head and athletic ability.
Its really a conundrum I wouldnt be shocked if he explodes before the season starts and strings together good series.
Thats what he needs to do string together play after play then let his god given ability do the rest.
I feel he would thrive with a Flacco or Matt Ryan who can hit The deep ball.
We will see but I believe he puts it together over the next few preseason contests.

No, sometimes you get your chance to show up or not. Don't think he looked good IMO with lots of opportunities.

I think we forget sometimes that there are tons of players who look good, but are backed up behind better players and will be cut.

So we drafted Boyce in round 4, who cares? he's just another receiver and couldn't deliver in a preseason game.

you caught a lot of flak for that comment.

the fact you caught it makes you a better choice at receiver than Boyce.
Boyce is just as good as he has also caught a lot of flack, just not much of anything else.

So, did he break, or sprain his "not good?" (sounds painful)

Ian Logue

The final spots at the receiver position for the Patriots are still up for grabs, but it looks like there might be one less player competing for one as we head into the final days of training camp.

thats too bad, I like Tyms and his potential

I think that this roster is correct as long as Dobson is healthy. After all, if everyone is healthy for game One, Dobson would be inactive, an OK (and inexpensive) #5 WR to have in case we have a couple of injuries. Of course, Dobson might get a chance to have significant reps, or not. I would rather have Dobson as the 5th WR instead of nobody (Harper or Boyce qualify).
