Felger was saying the NFL rejected Brady's offer to accept a suspension. and then the offer was pulled. is this true? or was the offer never made? I can't keep up with this sh-t.

LOL at people going on about public opinion like a bunch of girls. Stop caring what a group of irrational individuals who lack any sort of cognitive function think about Brady or our team. These people will make any excuse for why Brady and NE are cheaters even if Berman overturns the suspension completely. The ones who want to believe Brady is guilty have already started making excuses in case this scenario comes to fruition.

Their opinion is meaningless. Those who matter - who will be voting him into the HOF - have already gone on record saying that they wouldn't consider his legacy to be tarnished even if he is found to be guilty.

1 game is better than 4. Always. With no exceptions whatsoever. To claim otherwise is just being irrational.
From Brady's perspective, looking at the long term, reputation is paramount. It affects his value after football, whether in advertising, acting, politics, etc. Likability and Trust are important attributes. Unfortunately, those irrational individuals lacking any cognitive functions you speak of spend money and vote, so preserving/rehabbing Brady's reputation is an important consideration to Number 12.

First off it was Shefter via an NFL "source". That right there should have been a non starter. Second, Zolak yesterday said no chance of a deal including suspension. Then today Jeff Howe said that sources close to Brady said no chance.

PROS of Brady taking a one game agreement

1) There is no admitting to anything wrong aside from some technical crap re: failing to cooperate. Considering the fact that there's really nowhere to go but up after the "destroying his phone" story a couple of weeks ago, the punishment isn't ideal, but it could certainly be a lot worse.

2) Brady has his suspension reduced from 4 games to 1. That's a fairly big change of events from Goodell's suspension of 4 games + the choice to keep the suspension at 4 games. That not only changes (rearranges) the popular belief in the court of public opinion about the seriousness and involvement, it also means that we all know the amount of games missed and how to prepare the team accordingly. No more guessing games.

3) This issue is finally put to bed once and for all. There is no possibility of it dragging forward into 2016 via an appeal since it would be a negotiated settlement. No one in the seats or front offices of the NFL or its 32 teams wants this to drag on any further. We're all ready to move on into a new season now. There is no risk or gamble with only having 2/68 recent S.District of NY arbitration cases being overturned ('06-'12).

CONS of Brady taking a one game agreement

1) He "should" not have to take any punishment or admit to anything. Unfortunately, his back has been against the wall since 1-18-15, so some of us were never really expecting a cleared name to begin with. The possibility of total and absolute exoneration does not exist, unless the judge somehow orders the case to be reheard all over again (which Kessler has specifically asked him NOT to do), and Brady is found innocent the 2nd time around. If that happens, we may be moving backwards in time, with the possibility of moving forward towards resolution.

2) He'll still have to hear the "cheating" chants and read about his involvement, although those are going to come no matter what happens. Those who believe he's guilty aren't going to change their minds either way, but none of us want Brady to be found guilty of anything.

3) The season opener vs. PGH now becomes much more difficult, and the team may start 0-1.

and yet here we are...............which means there is some sort of validity on the part of the NFL
I have no doubt that the NFL initially believed they had caught a violation. However, there was no violation, and their hubris and ever escalating incompetence has now gotten them into this corner.

There is a significant possibility that Brady will go into politics. In that case, you have given a pretty good description of the people who will decide his success.

No there isn't. Brady has shown a real lack of talent at politics in this whole mess, as opposed to Goodell, who is a natural at it.

Shefter is a quality reporter and its not his fault if he or his sources were lied to.
Given the NFL's record of lying, which is now well known, it is incumbent on him to to some vetting before he puts out this crap. Is he a reporter or a mouthpiece?

An oversight that does make him look bad, but he has never been anything but professional from what I know. Im not mad at him.
So one supposed lapse is enough to damn Brady but we give the ESPN shill a pass? He should have known better, but let himself be used. The word for that is tool.

I'd argue neither of them are particularly suited for politics, since Goodell doesn't have to worry about an election campaign and is only beholden to ownership, but yeah Brady has been putrid. Then again, I think his interest in politics has always been an invention of fans; he seems far more likely to go the Drew Bledsoe route.

Goodell is good at making the other guy look bad while he's Teflon himself. He's good at getting away with non-answers.

Nobody's perfect at those things, and he's been having some difficulties lately. But on the whole, he seems quite good.

And he's certainly good at taking credit for the accomplishments of others, while taking none of the blame for their failings.

How do they know all this crap ? they never reported firs that brady was okay with a reduced suspension but they know it was pulled ?

they probably don't know. they just throw **** against the wall and see if it sticks.

you are correct. but then i tuned into sports tonight at 11pm and felger was going on about Brady's offer to settle was rejected by the league. Felger said Brady was willing to take a suspension but it was rejected.

A good reporter ought to keep in mind standard military intelligence questions

1. Why am I being told this?

2. Why am I being told this?

3. Why am I being told this now?

before running off to spread their new-found treasure of gossip.
