How big has the framegate effect been at patsfans? Not a reason you'd want traffic to increase, but I wonder how big the bump is. I know I'm on here a lot more. Are there graphs, or can anyone provide a link to an analytics site that has them (site visits as a function of time for this year versus previous years).

Just curious...

In the top 4 referring sites we have orangemane and chiefsplanet -- I find that kinda funny.

One from love, one from hate. Chiefs fans probably don't have the same hate for us that other fans do: they humiliated us in a national game last year, and our team consistently beats one of their hated rivals. The other...well...forehead.

Here is some basic info for you: http://www.similarweb.com/website/patsfans.com

If anyone has a subscription it would be helpful to see graphs from this year versus previous years...Though Ian probably has all that data....if anyone has data in excel or other format I can do some cool graphs etc in Matlab. :) PM me and I'll send you my email address.

EDIT: @rexxar already covered this. I didn't see the post.

The number of football posts this offseason is not more than normal.

They have them in the spring now, right? Why else would they be deflating balls in May?

My guess is there is somewhat less about football, a lot on equipment issues...

There is nothing to compare the equipment issues to..

But overall would guess traffic is up.. that were days in the past 7 months where I would log on in the morning and respond to posts, and later is the day that post would be on page 2...

There are about 15K messages in this separate deflategate forum..

We need to cut down on our clicks to espn, otherwise not bad. .... :)
Agreed (though ESPN probably includes Reiss/Bruschi when he appears)

I'm still maintaining my ban of everything Herald too.

Just in.

NFL has evidence that Brady was working with Ian to deflate the footballs, in order to create increased traffic to PATSFANs.COM

All joking aside.. ;)

I'd have to look but I know traffic this offseason was better than last year, for the obvious two reasons of the team winning in February and each time a report surfaced updating on the deflate gate nonsense. But 2014 was a down offseason year anyway from 2013 because of the Tebow effect, which made it busier than 2012. The main site is doing much better with a lot of the work Steve, Miguel and I put in over the offseason, which has been good to see and thank you to everyone who reads what we post, it's certainly appreciated and we work hard to try and put out the best stuff we can here. And if you care about learning about the Patriots salary cap and aren't keeping up with what Miguel is posting, you're missing out ;)

Unfortunately we got annihilated from mid February into the middle of April ad revenue-wise while I hunted down that AFF issue and shut down most of the ads over that span trying to protect you guys from that, which overall was embarrassing and we're still on lists that are blocking people from getting here from it. That one is going to linger for a while as I continue trying to get us whitelisted, but I'm glad I eventually figured it out and honestly it was the feedback from all of you telling me how/when it was happening that eventually helped make that happen. So thank you to all of you who stuck with me through that...that was awful :(

I switched out the domain so we don't get mentioned with them in search results, and honestly, you gave me a heart attack. Was relieved when I checked that page and we weren't their top referrer. That would have been awful :(

Many thanks for all you and the Mods do, Ian.
Goes both ways ;) The good news is during that ordeal I cleared out the entire site and put things back one-by-one, which saw me get rid of a lot of old stuff from back in '03, '04 that I did that I think was bogging things down with old coding that I ended up redoing. A lot of that old stuff I had forgotten about which had a couple scripts I spotted that were a bit of a resource hog tied and into here which probably contributed to some of the times this place locked up. So there were some positives that came out of it :D
