But it is his fault for not asking Brady's reps first.

Brady's reps probably aren't giving him anything if he does ask so he's just taking whatever info he gets and running with it.

It's funny because Florio is a die hard Steelers fan and hates the Patriots. Why would he be biased in favor of Brady playing vs the Steelers in a season where the Steelers are a legit contender in a tough division?

Not to mention that Florio hit the Pats harder over Spygate than probably anyone else. These same people calling him biased now were worshipping at his altar a couple years ago.

I think his family was Steeler fans but I believe Florio himself is a Vikings fan....

If anything, I'd say it's his fault for running with the story without considering the source, given that he saw exactly what happened with Mort.

Florio deserved credit for showing some journalistic integrity around framegate. He has been a surprising voice of reason.

Shefter is a quality reporter and its not his fault if he or his sources were lied to.

I have no big gripe with Schefter but quality reporters need to assess credibility of their sources, especially those of the unnamed variety. There's a pretty well established pattern of NFL leaking false information (i.e., lying) in furtherance of their own agenda. This has been particularly virulent since the AFC championship game, but may well have been going on for quite some time before that.

Well Florio also backed Schefters report as being correct.

and one for good measure

@RapSheet
Per 2 sources informed of Tom Brady’s thinking, his stance hasn’t changed. Not willing to accept any suspension in settlement at this point

And yet believe it or not, that headline is still heavily featured on ESPN.com's front page.

Well Florio too confirmed that Schefters report was correct.

Semantics. Florio confirmed that NFL sources said something to Schefter.

Well Florio also backed Schefters report as being correct.

And subsequently backed off from it and backed Howe's report that it was incorrect.

I don't think Florio had any independent sources on this. Schefter reporting it probably was his "source".

So "league sources" to ESPN where wrong again? I am shocked.

LOL at people going on about public opinion like a bunch of girls. Stop caring what a group of irrational individuals who lack any sort of cognitive function think about Brady or our team. These people will make any excuse for why Brady and NE are cheaters even if Berman overturns the suspension completely. The ones who want to believe Brady is guilty have already started making excuses in case this scenario comes to fruition.

Their opinion is meaningless. Those who matter - who will be voting him into the HOF - have already gone on record saying that they wouldn't consider his legacy to be tarnished even if he is found to be guilty.

1 game is better than 4. Always. With no exceptions whatsoever. To claim otherwise is just being irrational.

Yeah, LOL at all those people acting like a bunch of girls who think that Brady's legacy matters.

Except Brady. Brady clearly cares about his legacy. Is he 'acting like a girl' too?

No.

His legacy will be determined by his peers and those who vote him into the HOF. Not by random imbeciles with zero cognitive function who live in trailer parks.

Months and the result seems likely to be what so many suggested so long ago: a one-game suspension for not cooperating with Holiness the Commissioner.

So then why isn't Brady willing to settle for one game? It's almost as if he cares about his legacy and believes that maintaining that legacy--to whatever extent that's possible--requires drawing a hard line at accepting any suspension.

I also don't understand why people here think that him potentially accepting 1 game with no admission of guilt would affect his legacy versus the other possible outcomes (Berman vacating the suspension, Berman upholding the suspension). I think based on the media treatment of the issue over the past 7 months, its safe to say there will be a negative reaction towards Brady no matter what the outcome is.

I also want to note that whether Brady would be willing to take a 1 game suspension has no bearing on whether I think he should or not. I just don't think we should crucify him if he does take it (without an admission of guilt).

We don't know what his strategy is. My hope is he serves zero games. If, down the line, his team believes there is little chance of that happening, then he should settle to minimize the suspension so he serves the fewest amount of games.

After today though, it's evident that the NFLPA has a strong case. So I do not see a need to settle. But who knows what is to come.

People who hate Brady have already started making excuses in case Berman vacates.
