@GlobeWhitmer: DL winners for the Patriots in 1-on-1 work: Ninkovich, Chandler, Sheard. Dekoda Watson struggled, Grissom at times.

I briefly went through the thread BobDigital linked to up above. Take all of this with a grain of salt. It's amazing at how/what things get reported based on who the report's team is.

Cameron Jordan had three sacks against our OL. - https://twitter.com/garlandgillen/status/634022959468912641

This appears to be one of the first good practices by Joe Morgan, the player who beat Malcolm Butler a few times. Could be a case of a bad practice by Butler and an excellent practice by Morgan. We can't forget the WRs get paid to catch balls, too.

Ben Watson had a TD in 11-on-11s as well as a big catch over the middle.

Mark Ingram had a long catch and run down the sideline (15 yards). Not sure who it was against. I'd guess an LB. We have a history of getting owned on those routes.

McCourty got beat by Coleman at one point. Also by Cooks for a 50 yard.

From going through the thread I think I counted 6+ would-be sacks by their defense against our #1 offense. We are missing quite a few starting OL, though.

One of our players rolled up on Gronk's leg. Gronk went to the sidelie after that. Not sure if he came back out or not. I'm assuming he did.

Other important note: The Saints message board training camp topic is 23 pages long versus our 2 pages. We have some REAL FOOTBALL TALK catching up to do.

I am still going through it and trying to read most of it.

Obviously each fan base will highlight the things their team does well so each opposing team will look worse on the other's board. I think a lot of the time the Patriots DBs got beat were the 1 on 1 drills or something like that. In 11 on 11 the Patriots seemed to get the better of the Saints.

It is still just a practice though and a lot of players missing from both sides.

Heard nothing about a gronk injury here or on our local twitter feeds so much be nothing too it. Just one of the minor things and cause it is Gronk it will get mentioned.

It seems Cooks really is going to be a guy to watch for the Saints. He seemed to dominate today and will be a guy I watch on saturday cause i want to keep track of how the DB covering him does.

Their OL is way healthier than ours. They should be better their right now but we got a few wins in today against it with our DL.

Also of note. Seems The Saints had all 5 starters out in the secondary. So take the pass catching with a grain of salt. I mean we have some of our guys at WR out too but it is back ups vs back ups.

To be fair, there are other things going on that merit our attention. Also, we're the World Champs, and have like 6 possible roster spots open. They're a 7-9 team who just blew up their roster because they're in cap jail.

They've got more "football talk" to talk about. Our biggest issue is "who's starting at Guard".

It wasn't all bad for the 3 rooks, but film won't be fun

Not a good day pass blocking for interior of that Pats offensive line in team. The 3 rooks - Mason, Andrews and Jackson - had some issues.

Drew Brees did work on the Pats secondary in 7-on-7 and team drills.

Hightower a full go today. Had what some are calling a forced fumble 20 yards down the field but believe the whistle had blown

Garoppolo caps nice 11 on 11 with TD to the post for Jimmay Mundine. Hug from McDaniel

Interesting secondary. Butler and McCourty outside the numbers. Chung, Harmon, Tavon Wilson inside

Michael Giardi ‏@MikeGiardi 2h2 hours ago
Let's just say Malcolm Butler has had better days. Considerably better days

Michael Giardi ‏@MikeGiardi 3h3 hours ago
Another subpar start to the day for Garoppolo. Just a couple completions in 7 on 7s, including a TD to Gronk.

Training camp observations: Tom Brady shines, Malcolm Butler struggles against the Saints in joint practice

[..........]

You wouldn’t be able to tell that Tom Brady had a court battle going on at the same time in New York on Wednesday. The quarterback was, once again, outstanding in practice against the Saints’ defense. Brady went 6/9 in 7-on-7s before finishing 12/15 in full-team drills.Jimmy Garoppolo was also solid, going 7/10 in full-team drills after a slow start in 7-on-7s (2/6). Ryan Lindley finished the day going 5/9 with an interception during 11-on-11s.The defense also got a chance to get some good work in against Drew Brees. The Saints’ quarterback went 15/22 in 11-on-11s and gave Malcolm Butler fits. The second-year cornerback struggled really for the first time in training camp during one series in particular. On this drive, Butler got flagged for pass interference. Next, he got beat deep and gave up a large gain to Joe Morgan. On the very next play, his man, now Josh Morgan, scored a touchdown. The Patriots secondary is still mixing and matching, but the starting group has been constant with Butler, Devin McCourty, Patrick Chung and Duron Harmon. When the defense goes to the nickel, they put in Tarell Brown in the slow and he was outstanding with two deflected passes. The Patriots also rotated in Jordan Richards at safety with Chung and Harmon. McCourty continues to show his versatility in this secondary.

Josh Boyce had the play of the day when he made an outstanding diving catch on a deep ball from Brady. Danny Amendola also made a great catch in the corner of the end zone. The coverage was tight, but Brady threw a perfect ball. After the touchdown, Brady came out and hugged Amendola.Chris Harper continues to stand out. The undrafted rookie made a nice leaping grab on a pass from Lindley. The Patriots did not bring their entire team to West Virginia, leaving most of the rehabbing players back in New England. Julian Edelman, Aaron Dobson, Brandon LaFell, Darryl Roberts, Travaris Cadet, Dane Fletcher, Eric Martin, Ryan Wendell, Bryan Stork, Caylin Hauptmann, Rufus Johnson, Trey Flowers, Jack Bequette, Scott Chandler and Chris Jones were not seen at practice.

Oh OK, good thing he wasn't targeted in the Super Bowl. Really dodged a bullet there:rolleyes:

I hate when people see a thing once and play it off like they "picked up on something"

Ya absolutely hate people basing an opinion on something they seen in joint practices during the 2nd week of training camp.

I see a major difference between "Butler got frustrated today" and "Butler showed today he gets frustrated"

One describes an occurrence, the other implies a tendency

Well he is young. We know he can do better and he will have off days.
Best if he has them before the season opener. Brees would be a test for most CBs.

And what if they try to pick on him tomorrow and he has a great day? It would fly in the face that he gets frustrated they try to pick on him.

And he's done well for the most part. He did pretty well last year against Manning too (in the limited amount of time he got to play that game.)
And he did pretty well against Russell Wilson, if I recall correctly.

Drew Brees completed 4 of 6 passes against Butler, who had a nightmarish drive in the two-minute drill. It started when Butler was in coverage for an incompletion to Brandon Coleman, but Brees then hit Coleman on a short pass and Butler was called for pass interference two plays later. Brees then hit Joseph Morgan for a 40-yard gain down the right sideline and Josh Morgan for a TD on back-to-back plays to beat Butler on the drive.

I think it's good that Malcolm gets tested like this. I think he'll do better tomorrow against Brees

@PatriotsInform: Brandon Gibson has the most receptions today out of the #Patriots, from both Brady and Jimmy. Continues to quietly dominate.
