Reports from Curran and various tweeters that Berman continued to push settlement, set a hearing date of the 31st with both Brady and Goodell required to be there and then had final oral arguments.

Berman also reportedly said he plans to get the decision done by Sept 4th though he can't be held to that.

--

If he plans to have it done by the 4th then that means the decision is gonna be substantially complete by the 31st. I wonder if (in private sessions) that day he plans to finally tip his hand to "encourage" an 11th-hour settlement.

Can we get this over with already? There's no new information to be learned. Just ask the two parties (NFL and NFLPA) if they think they'll ever come to a settlement. When it's found the answer is, "no," give your ruling.

At this point, I'm losing faith in Berman. Is he seriously still trying to figure out who the assh*le is?

"Motion to uphold arbitration denied and cross motion to vacate award granted" or GTFO!
He may know who the arseholes are but he may also be of the opinion that the arseholes have the law on their side. :(

].

I thought he was sort of tipping his hand back on the 12th when he crapped all over the NFL's case.

Since then the NFL has appeared to dig in even more. This is bigger than just Brady. The league wants the commissioner to have the right to suspend or ban players for any reason that he dreams up. I am sure the owners are in favor of this, as it makes them essentially "at-will" employees.

Well done, 32.

Judge wants a settlement to end it. His decision either way does not end it and the fight would continue in court at the next level. The thing is if I were Brady either 1 game or 4, it would all be the same to me.

this Berman dude is really starting to piss me off. The whole world, other than the haters, now know this whole thing is a sham. The Wells report is a total crock of **** and Goodell has violated the CBA on at least 4 (if not more) points.

Toss this suspension out now, give Goodell the public dressing down he requires, and let's be done with this crap!

And that would be a total crock of sh*t. He can easily draft a legally defensible decision vacating this award that should survive appeal.

If this case isn't an example of an arbitrator abusing his authority, then I don't know what is.

Well that was anti-climatic. :(

Ho Hum. More of the same.

To make matters worse, I have Tom Brady on my roster in a FFB keeper league.

People keep saying this will happen...just like we thought Wells would give an impartial report that attacked the NFL for its sting....optimism is a mistake folks...

While Pats fans have been living with this for 8 months, the case is moving fairly quickly in the courthouse.

Too bad it took so long to get there. I don't doubt that Goodell purposely waited so long to rule on the appeal in order to get closer to the season to try and put pressure on Brady to accept punishment instead of fighting and miss time in TC or possibly even in-season practices fighting this.

I don't have a lot of faith in Berman. If he can't see through the BS by now, he probably never will.

Kind of like when it took Wells more than a week for the investigation I knew it was because he didn't have evidence and needed time to torture the statistics into saying what he wanted.

Was hoping to see a ruling by Sept 3rd my fantasy draft :)
