CORRECTION: brady willing to accept 1 game for failure to cooperate is UNTRUE

So the report that says he would take a game is from "league sources" and the report from a guy that works for the Patriots and says "Brady's camp" says he is willing to accept a game.

Hmmmmmm.

If you continue to believe stuff from "league sources" then you show your idiocy.
I don't believe much of anything from "league sources", but that won't prevent me from showing my idiocy.

In other words this is an NFL leak begging Tom to make them look like they got some value for their $5 million.

Nothing to see here folks.

More leaks from NFL sources....... I'd be shocked if Brady agrees to any suspension .

It's designed to support the argument if they lose in court: "Brady's guilty even if he gets off on a technicality due to process issues. He was willing to be suspended."

This is pretty much what I'm hoping it is. Given what we know, it doesn't make sense for Brady to even accept one game.

I understand the temptation of Brady to take a one game suspension for non cooperation. This has without a doubt been a trying ordeal for him. One can only imagine what it's been like. I'm sure he wants nothing more than to put this behind him and move on.

But this is a very important matter and all along we've said a couple games is meaningless in comparison to legacy. I desperately hope Brady hasnt been "worn down" as league sources said was the goal several weeks ago.

I said this in another post but it needs to be said again
DON'T DO IT!!! Why should he be the 1st player to EVER get a suspension for this?

There are three reasons I give this any credence:
  • Kessler's admission of some failure to cooperate.
  • Because it's Schefter.
  • Brady went to NYC to try to cut a deal and is reported to be angry that it wasn't possible. I.e., he's not taking the super hardest possible line.
That said, on an even-money bet I'm guessing the settlement won't happen, and that Brady will never actually be suspended.

Explain to me in detail how accepting a one game suspension when you haven't done anything and when there is zero proof of any wrongdoing is not admitting guilt.

because it is very possible that failing to cooperate is not mutually inclusive with the original accusation

It is very possible that at the time, long before the wells report, there was a belief that this would never get to where it has gotten. It is very realistic to believe that if brady knew where this was going to wind up that he would have given 100%.....but he did not give 100% and that is a contribution as to why this went where it went........it is very possible that it would not have mattered

again.....my first knee-jerk is that brady did this because he believes they won't accept it.........which leaves only one uncooperative party in the case .... at least in the judges eyes.

the NFL has to think quick this morning....this is a tug of war, and the brady side just let go of the rope for a bit......will likely start pulling real hard again

provided this is even true.....which is by no means certain......I'm just painting on assumption

Or there have been indications that the NFLPA can't win the case and he feels he might rather take the 1 game than 4.

We all want Brady to only accept no games, but he probably wants this over. The only thing to Pats fans that he will be admitting is that godell is a **** . The others it doesn't matter what he says..ok they will of course use the one game as admission of guilt, but if not the would find something else .
ps I hope NFL doesn't accept it

I still don't buy it. It could be just a ploy to make the judge think that he is being cooperative when the NFL looks like they are being stubborn to curry favor with the judge.

NFLPA can't be happy if this is true as any player who isn't willing to open up his entire private life to the sieve-like, integrity-maintaining, unquestionable ethics that is the NFL front office can then be suspended.

I would say that Brady could have been less cooperative and been more cooperative than he should have been. I certainly hope this is BS. Plus, did anyone say they got conformation from both sides?

I don't believe this

I believe the most likely scenario is that Brady proposed somethin ghe knows the NFL will not accept.......at a critical moment

and again.........if there's even any truth to this

I hope that's the case but I don't think either speculative scenario holds more weight than the other

i think this move is strictly about the NFL not budging.......the judge would be more prone to vacating the entire thing since it was about settling and the NFL has not moved an inch......they will look uncooperative, nad if thing is on a razors edge, something like this will tip the scale big time

I agree although i think it will have a relatively minor impact, but it is definitely to show the judge the NFLPA is trying and the NFL is not. Didnt this come from Schefter, who has been leaking pro-patriot info since the appeals hearing? This is a positive development folks, not a negative one.

When I read the thread title, I was like " oh HELL NO !". but your theory makes sense. NFL*
