NFL still struggling to figure out this pressure gauge thingamajiggy...

Someone called into WEEI with a brilliant idea, hook a measuring device to a ball in the cold then display the data live on the scoreboard to show what happens in the cold and rain. Would love to see the Pats do it in a late year prime time game just to f with the NFL.

Hope they do it every game. Balls down on the field and display them on the jumbotron at points during the game for the fans delight. If they do what I think they will do I'm gonna lmao and tell the league to take the picks and the deflated balls and shove them up their arses.

I know we aren't getting those picks back regardless but I will get some sort of satisfaction if Kraft would do this.

I haven't been to a Bruins game in a few years, but they used to put up 4 multiple choice attendance figures on the jumbotron and the crowd would cheer for their guess. One by one the choices would disappear until the correct answer was the only one left

It was fun entertainment during breaks in the action

The Patriots could do the same thing with psi throughout the game

I doubt they're worrying about becoming ISO certified.

No. But there's some individual who's supposed to get it right, and if he doesn't he's going to take the fall so the league can pretend they really care.

No doubt that would be determined to be BB.

Say goodbye to 1st round picks for the next five years.

They don't need a finely calibrated instrument for this. Unless the gauge is completely out of whack, they can just go by using the same gauge and its numbers.

It's difficult to find reliable gauges.

I think it has more to do with it's difficult to find reliable NFL employees who:

1) can handle complex tasks like writing numbers down on paper,
2) can tell the difference between the number 1 (actual) and 11 (initial accusation) when reporting the number of balls underinflated by more than 2 lbs, and
3) passed grade 9 science and understand that balls shrink when cold

In all fairness, it seems like Goodell, Kensil, and Vincent don't have any balls so they couldn't possibly figure out that last item.

The stupid league still doesn't get that temperature and pressure are correlated. At what temperature is 12.5-13.5 PSI supposed to be measured at?

The stupid league still hasn't mentioned what it will do when footballs will measure out of spec due to temperature changes.

NFL has issued a memo to equipment managers apologizing for the fact that they still haven't gotten their new pressure gauges, per source.

This must have had such an incredible impact on the competitiveness of all pre-season games played so far. It's amazing! All games must be cancelled until this is done since it is ABSOLUTELY VITAL TO THE COMPETITIVE BALANCE IN THE GAME OF FOOTBALL.

Oooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...they ran out of money to pay for the new gauges after paying Wells and the army of lawyers...

The gauges the refs have been using since, well since they used gauges, have never been able to be calibrated. Whether they were accurate or not has never been a concern. The fact that the refs gauge from the AFCC game was almost .5 psi off was not even an issue. How many games did he use that gauge and how many balls were below the legal limit in those games? Nobody cared? I would have loved to seen all the refs gauges collected and tested to see how "accurate" they really were.

I've always been curious what kind (brand/model) gauges they're using?

The Wells report had measurements in the hundredths, but most digital gauges I've seen only show tenths (unless it's a scientific gauge which I'm sure they're not using) and on an analog gauge it would be hard to even discern between tenths accurately.

The League has gone so far down the rabbit hole on this that they are realizing they are going to have difficulty maintaining this sham that measuring the air pressure in footballs with a cheap $15 gauge is an exact science. They know that their year long study of measuring air pressure is going to expose it.

This is why I expect that we will never see this study or we will see a study with doctored results.

which is why Kraft has an extra 10 balls that go through the same process, albeit no game time that follow the match balls and are tested at halftime and full time when put back to 12.5. Patriots need to do its own study or ask those are the company that the Wells report were turned down by to do it.

New email from Blandino to the referees:

"Guys (and that one broad) looks like we don't have a budget for the new gauges after all. Seems like the budget has been wasted on Ted and company thanks to someone not getting the hint. When Ted asks any of you boneheads a question more than once, get the hint and answer the question correctly next time. Yes, I'm talking to you Walt.

So after all this money given to Ted, there's just no money for ball gauges. If each of you can take some of your per diem and get a cheap gauge that would be great. It really doesn't matter which one you buy since this is all for show anyways. Like we give a **** about PSI or something.

Also, remember the other memo with respect to Patriot's footballs. The PSI on those balls shall be a minimum of 16 PSI, excluding the K balls which will be 10 PSI maximum. Let's see how Tom likes those rugby balls!

As always,
Go JETS!"

It takes time to glue all those little needles so they don't go down when it gets cold out.

Give them a break. It is not easy to find pressure gauges that show that footballs don't lose pressure in the cold.

Not only that, they misread the order... "Haven't we gouged them enough, sir? What... Oh! It says gauge!"

I've invented a football that you can control PSI remotely! So you can set it for 11 psi during game time but when the refs go to grab it, you can quickly add 1.5-2 lbs psi!!

So far, only the Colts and Ravens organizations have placed an order.

They are probably trying to find a gauge manufacturer that wants to pay big $ to be the officially licensed NFL Ball Gauge.

why don't they just use the same kind Goodell uses to check the air pressure in his head?
