The only thing interesting about this is that the person has 109k followers, which can be a lot to lose if he's trolling:

Just heard, @NFL and #TomBrady agree to no games, no admission of guilt and $50K for not cooperating. Announcement in court tomorrow.

Edit: He also seems to be the only one who heard anything and has confused himself lol

@WALLACHLEGAL @MikeGasior thanks. Just hard to believe that someone with seemingly no ties to NFL/Brady would be given this giant scoop.

No, it's all closed off tomorrow.
No public/reporters allowed to hear the arguments? That's odd seeing as how settlement conferences seem to have failed and tomorrow's hearing is for final arguments.

Sorry, what I meant was that it won't be live tweeted like last Wednesday. No idea if the media is allowed inside, but its absolutely no tweet feeds or cellphones allowed.

I'd be surprised as hell if we got a decision tomorrow. Tomorrow will be oral arguments. Dunno if there will be any final briefs after that. And the judge has to actually write his decision.

As for Sept 4th, nothing binds the judge to that. He may have agreed to the expedited hearing/briefing schedule, but that does not obligate him to render a decision by Sept 4th.
and then appeals. I'm not an optimist by nature, but I'm trying to tell myself we are closer to the end now than we were in May.

It'll be open to the public (including the media) but no cameras, phones, computers, etc. are allowed in. So people will have to take notes the old-fashioned way and give the notes to a runner to take them to people outside the courthouse who can then tweet, etc.

I wouldn't be thrilled that Brady is conceding even on the non-cooperation issue but it would be nice if this was over and done with and $50k is essentially a token fine.

The bigger problem is how do we deal with Goodell once and for all?

I know, because once they concede on the science explaining it, they say something brilliant like, "so why did he destroy his phone? Gotcha!"

How can you argue that logic?

<insert Captain Picard face palm here>
You can't and it's not worth it.

Brady CAN'T admit any guilt for anything. Any settlement for Brady is a victory for the NFL, even this one. I hope to god this isn't true. He essentially admitted to murder, even thought the so called victim is alive and well. He not only permanently taints his legacy, he allows the NFL league offices to get away with a conspiracy of near epic proportions (relatively ;) ).

I will hate it if this is the end result and my fandom will definitely be affected. I will believe that in the end that Kraft set this in motion and Brady confirmed my worst fears.

This guy's a big time accounting guru for the investment community, so I doubt he's trolling, but no visible connection to the NFL. Interesting.

If this is settled a defamation lawsuit seems unlikely. I really want the nfl to pay for this.

Considering all the bogus reports that has been released. This tweet about a settlement is as credible as everything else, source or no source. And for the mediots asking for a source they should talk to Mort about his.

If the NFL caves to the point of no suspension, no guilt, $50k, Goodell is a dead man walking.

Too good to be true, no way roger settles for this why would he? If I were him I'd let the judge rule that way I don't look like a chump.

If this is true, Goodell would HAVE to get the ax yes? No one in their right mind could trust this controversy creating nitwit to keep being commish, can they?

If the NFL caves to the point of no suspension, no guilt, $50k, Goodell is a dead man walking.
Really, DI? You think this is a win for the Patriots. Only in the narrow short term. If Brady pays a fine, even if he officially doesn't admit guilt, that is NOT how it will play among the haters.

In the end Goodell will have to eat a little crow, but he can blame it all on the Federal Court system, where the NFL has never faired well. He can still proclaim his belief that Brady was guilty to the world and got away on a technicality forced upon him. He can say it was the best deal he could get because of the Federal court, but the Pats were severely punished and that will satisfy the owners knowing that the Pats lost 2 key draft picks over NOTHING.

Most importantly, if this deal is actually coming to pass; the NFL will NEVER have to explain their actions on the Mort report. They will never have to explain their actions on their misinformation campaign. They will never have to explain the strategic leaks. They will never have to explain the actions of Kensil, Giardi, and Pash. They will never have to explain the farce of the Welles report.

So when you think about it. While some might consider this a win for Brady, in the long run Goodell comes out the big winner. He will get the owners support because he gave the Pats a black eye and hurt them competitively. He will have proven that he needs no real evidence to prosecute any player, team or owner and essentially get away with it. He won't come out of this without some perceived damage, but overall he wins, and consolidates his power over the PA, players and Teams he want to prosecute....or not.

So in the end Goodell wins, because even after all this, would you want to be the guy to cross him if you actually DID something.

None of that is going to happen even if there's no settlement. If NFLPA/Brady wins and NFL doesn't appeal or if NFL wins and NFLPA/Brady doesn't appeal, the case is done and none of those things will happen.

If the loser at this level does appeal still none of those things will happen -- the appeal will be about whether or not Berman applied the law correctly. The only thing before the appellate court will be the case record and documents that were in front of Berman. There will not be any new testimony. There will not be any discovery. There will not be any "explaining".

I agree as far as this particular case goes. However, assuming a Brady win, a defamation case might be where some of this stuff gets unearthed. If a judge accepts the case, discovery would be a real treat.

The settlement suggestion said nothing about Brady giving up the option of a defamation suit did it?

I would hope he'd keep that option.
