Updated: Judge Tells Brady No Need To Attend 8/19 Settlement Hearing

According to reporters in Foxborough, Brady is absent from practice on Tuesday and Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that Brady plans to be in Manhattan for the conference even though his attendance isn’t mandatory.

This means a lot to Brady and a lot to me as a fan. He needs to be there to legally clear his name.

He has done things the right way his whole life and his dedication and hard work need to be legally acknowledged.

Glad he is going...

I wonder if Mike Florio is going to send him a bill as a legal adviser since he wrote an article a couple weeks ago saying that Brady should attend every hearing because it sends a bad message to the judge if he doesn't.

Good, I'm a bit relieved. If this has any chance at putting him in a positive light with the judge, it's worth missing a practice over IMO.

Support Brady 100% in whatever he does if he misses Evan an important day like tomorrow so be it. He is the best player in the history of this franchise and 2nd best I've even seen in my life (B Russell is still #1).

His legacy matters to me as a fan of this team.

As a side benefit, Garropolo has a lot more to gain from these crucial joint practices than Brady does at their respective career stages. I'm okay with Jimmy getting a lot more reps tomorrow because of this. As long as Brady doesn't go the entire preseason without playing like he did in 2008, he should be fine.

Kind of wish they wouldn't have given Roger a heads up on this, that way his weasly ass wouldn't have shown up. Lol oh well he is arrogant enough to just not show up...hopefully.

on a side note, what happened to the contempt hearing goodell had to attend last week?

Now Roger will show up 10 minutes earlier with an apple for the judge...

Thing this that was a probably one time deal for him. This time there'll be a bunch of people that go to that room, if they can.

Hearing was postponed to 26 August.

Also, someone else tweeted that when court personnel discovered who it was who was livetweeting they threw him out.

I think if nothing else, Brady wants to be there so he can get a first hand account of what's going on there. Imagine if he hadn't been at the last hearing, and only saw the tweet (out of context) that kind of said, "McNally deflated the balls". He'd probably go crazy before he found out the context later. Better to be there and not have that weighing on his mind throughout practice anyway.
