I'll read through this, but I thought many of us have shared the same thought.
Thus, i'll lead with (see below) and come back with some follow up on the comments.

Why haven't we heard this from all the former players? Do the sports shows ignore them and their message? A lot of former Patriots are greatful for their experience. Should they not help spread this type of message?
3+ decades ago Warren Buffet let on about his secret to making great investments. He was basically laughed at and equated, I believe, to a lucky monkey flipping coins.

To this day his strategy still works and many people choose not to believe. Peopel have been sold a bill of goods that you can't invest for yourself, it's too hard, you can't beat the big guys or the market. There are experts out there that can do it better than you ever could. and Warren would agree, if you aren't going to put in the time, pick a simple, minimal load index and put your money in there. Over 40 years you'd be in pain understanding how much it costs your retirement to have fund managers (my belief, not necessarily yours or the popular belief).

Same thing with the Patriots, if a message gets repeated often enough, people believe it exists as truth. I'm not sure why that happens, perhaps people need to feel connected/grounded to a common framework and many people don't dare step outside. Add to that mix what the media does, they fuel the negative emotions of people and keep them distracted by finding someone else to blame for their problems or "bad" things that are happening.

You alluded to, but did not specifically attribute one thing that ALSO BB does. He searches out and keeps good people; even if they are not the most athletic types available. The proportion of college graduates, Academic All-Americans, team captains, leadership types, and Boy Scouts, among the Patriots player squads must lead the League in such categories.

I laughed so hard at this I almost choked on my cereal. Let's not get carried away here -- the Patriots, after all, have employed the likes of Aaron Hernandez, Kenyatta Jones, Brandon Meriweather, Alfonzo Dennard and Al Haynesworth, among others.

Not to mention, EVERY team has multiple "team captains" and "leadership types", as the best players on college football teams tend to get leadership roles. Here is the list of team captains available in the most recent draft -- as you will see, just by drafting with a dartboard, each team would be assured of landing numerous team captains with their picks:

it's the propoganda PLUS the hate that comes with winning.

Thanks Captain Obvious.
