John Mara: "I just want it to be over, one way or another"

I was going to comment on another thread about the owners supposedly not liking this story. That could not be further from the truth. They love the publicity in the offseason. It keeps everyone else focused on the evil Patriots and not focused on concussions, drunk driving arrests, domestic violence etc. Mara is full of **** if you ask me. Sorry folks but the owners love this. With the exception of Krafty who initially bent over if that's any indication of how much support GODell has. Just my opinion.

I hope Brady refused the "non cooperation" fine at this point.

Yeah.. funny how as soon as the league is starting to look bad in the court case with all their lies the owners suddenly just want it to be over

This is why I questioned the interview with McCann saying this may go 2 more years. At what cost, I say?

The leagues reputation will take massive hits and idiot boy will still be making arbitrary decision on discipline for violent players.

The owners cannot afford two more years of this ****.

Maybe a constant barrage of Goodell playing the dolt is what they want ...

Fans will get used to it and just dismiss most of what he does as Roger being Roger.

Maybe this is Manny being Manny ... as in Manny Ramirez ... Goodell style ... Where's Psy?

He didn't care when the NFL was riding the BS wave crest and Goodell was his fair haired boy. Now the inside info is starting to come out from the court documents and the idea of an independent investigation into what happened is starting to dawn on the owners. They don't want the league's dirty laundry flying out on the flagpole for the world to see!

We'll see how much does he want this to end if the ruling goes against the NFL.

This is what the NFL asked for, this is what you get assholes!

Mara is just scared that the lid might get ripped off this whole conspiracy and authorities start looking into Goodell and his underlings FIXING the outcomes of Super Bowls since 2007. I'd love to see Mike Carey under oath in federal court...

"Mr Carey...were you instructed to NOT call any penalties on the Giants last offensive drive...if so, who instructed you?"

**** Mara......... You think you want it to be over now? Just wait until "hizz honor" b*tch slaps your golden boy back to reality on Wednesday. The Emperor has already started undressing for the whole world to see. I believe the song goes "It's too late to apologize".........

I disagree just because the focus isn't on the evil Patriots anymore. People may still think Brady is guilty, but the national dialog has moved to how inept Goodell and the League office is, how they live in this bubble where they think they can make all the rules and treat anyone how they want, how Goodell lied about what happened in the appeal, how the judge made the NFL lawyers look like an idiot and rip apart the Wells Report, etc. The story isn't about the Patriots or Brady anymore. It is how this whole thing is unraveling on Goodell and the NFL.

I think a lot of owners are regretting that Goodell took this so far. Because just like everything Goodell touches make him look as bad as anyone else. Just like he turned Ray Rice punching out his girlfriend into Goodell covering up what he knew and double punishing Rice by lying that Rice lied to him. Rice ended up becoming irrelevant in much of that story too.

So more influential owners are coming forward and asking for this all to go away.

****

THAT

they could have and should have back on January when it would have made a difference.

Now this is all just more BS from the billionaires club who are now seeing how this may effect their bottom line.

What a joke.

I think it is becoming more and more apparent that for the Pats to get ANY positive spin out of even a successful court result from Judge Berman; they really need to take the next step in this war.

Even if Brady's suspension is totally vacated; it will be on technical CBA grounds that won't really address the fundamental unfairness and malicious behavior of Goodell and his minions. Lost in the fallout will be the truth that NOTHING happened in the first place. Lost in fallout will be the fraudulent and slanderous behavior of the league office. Lost in the fallout of this will be the Pats reputation and Brady's legacy.

I am hoping that after Berman gives us a positive result in a week or so, Brady and/or the Patriots will take the next step, and lay bare the corrupt, self serving, sludge that has evolved in the NFL offices under the "leadership" of Roger Goodell, and end this sad era once and for all.

For THAT to happen, someone has to file a defamation suit or some other kind of legal vehicle that will allow the kind of discovery that will tear open the entire fabric of the NFL offices. Think of the irony of Brady demanding Goodell's cell phone. :D. It's important to understand that Brady doesn't necessarily have to win this case.....to win the case in the public eye, (not that I think he would lose)

My fear is that by winning the case before Berman, the NFLPA and Brady will be satisfied with the victory, while the NFL will fall back to proclaim Brady a guilty man who got off on a technicality and let the matter drop and allow their minions to reinforce their original premise out of spite.

The Patriots and Brady have to play the long game, if they want to prevail. Finally, the long game is the ONLY way for the Pats to get back those draft picks (and now my own personal agenda is exposed). The ONLY chance the Pats have to get back those pick is that it becomes clear that NOTHING happened at AFCCG in the first place, That won't happen until the NFL itself, acknowledges nothing happened.

Once the suspension part has been decided (after all appeals), the NFLPA is out of it.

They wouldn't have any involvement in a personal defamation case (except for providing documents or testimony or something).

Assuming Berman rules against the NFL, can he, in addition to writing an appeal proof decision, add editorial comments lambasting the NFL for railroading Brady? Or is that not done by Federal Judges?

Perception has changed...this was in the Washington Post on July 23, less than a month ago. Do you think any owner is still thinking this?

"I think other owners are concerned about what this means to the commissioner’s credibility,” the high-ranking team official said. “Do they care if it’s four games or two games or one game? I’m not sure they do. But they would like to see the commissioner emerge from it credible and looking like he’s dealing from a position of strength."

I believe he can write anything he wants when discussing his opinion. My dream scenario is that he just lambasts the NFL, but I refuse to get my hopes up. :(

If you want it to be over Johnnie Boy, then you and the other 30 owners better call Rog, the guy who supposedly works for you, & DIRECT him to vacate Brady's suspension. You could even DEMAND that he offer some lame excuse, like this has gone on too long and you want all your fans to be able to focus on this upcoming season, not an alleged equipment violation that had no outcome on the game. But you won't come out of your ivory tower to get your hands dirty. You all made your bed, now lie in it. I for one won't be watching any of your team's games this year as part of my protest against the NFL. I won't be buying any of your NFL products either. I hope lots of other fans are as fed up as me and do the same. I'll still watch my beloved Pats as long as Brady is on the field, so you'd better make sure he's out there.
