We have an incredibly strong roster. I believe that there are still possible roster spots on offense where a veteran free agent could improve the team. The defense is well, well stocked. We we need to cut valuable players from all the defensive utis and from special teams.

1) LG or even LT
This player would replace Kline/Grory/Andrews.
I think that this is a matter of price.

2) RB
It is possible that there are 3rd down RB's available that would be an improvement over White and Cadet. BTW, this could be our 5th RB if Dobson doesn't make the squad.

Maybe, but who is available in free agency that we would want? We may need to wait till the various cut days and see who gets released.

Ha! yeah exactly

1) CB
I am hoping an experienced top 10 CB is released by another team for CAP purposes, misconduct or whatever. I don't care if his name is Goodell...sign him up

2) See above

Heck Belichick is probably just getting warmed up for future roster moves. This time last year we still had to trade Logan Mankins for Wright, trade Mallett to Houston. trade to the Titans for LB Akeem Ayers, trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneer for LB Jonathan Casillas, sign veteran DL Alan Branch, sign RB Blount.

So not only signing a veteran FA still a viable option, so too is a trade.

  • We're standing pat at QB.
  • We have a lot of resources invested in OT. I think we're standing pat.
  • Especially if Wendell's injury lingers, we're very young at interior OL. An acquisition could make sense.
  • I don't think Chandler's backup is another accomplished move TE; it's a tall WR. I think we stand pat at TE.
  • We stand pat at FB.
  • I have no opinion re RB.
  • We stand pat at K/P/LS.
  • We just added Walker. I think we're loaded at DT.
  • I think we're loaded at outside rusher.
  • BB always seems willing to upgrade reserve LB.
  • We're loaded and beyond at safety.
  • CB is certainly an area of potential upgade.

Current NFL free agents aside from Mathis I have no interest. Once rosters are trimmed I would be interested in RB, OL, DL, LB, CB.

We have a lot of injuries. If resolved, we're probably OK but, BB is always searching and if he finds someone who might help, it doesn't matte what we think is settled.

Roster never really settles until game 3 of the regular season, if then...injuries

Amazing how those moves basically won them the SB.

Did BB/Caserio win Exec of the Year. Of not they should have by a landslide.

Reiss reports that Patriots are looking for an OT.

5. Sometimes a team gets a run of injuries at a position in training camp, and it leads them to explore trade possibilities. Along those lines, the Patriots had been working the phones recently looking for some offensive tackle help around the NFL to no avail, so that's a position that could be of interest to them as teams trim rosters in the coming weeks. The need for a tackle was heightened as starter Nate Solder (left) is working his way back from an undisclosed ailment, starterSebastian Vollmer (right) is being managed from offseason shoulder surgery, and top swing tackle Marcus Cannon has been out since the early days of training camp. The good news for the Patriots is that all three appear to be making progress to be ready when it counts; the bad news is that the short-term void remains and second-year player Chris Barker -- who is more of a guard -- had to wire-to-wire at left tackle in Thursday's preseason opener.

Jerry Jones won it....spare me.

Serious? Talk about a ballwashing. But I guess by making him think he did a good job it can only propagate his mediocrity and help the rest of the league and NE by default.

And... was it the Dan Fouts Offensive Exec of the Year award?

OT is the only spot I think the Pats are really hurting for right now. Right now, Hauptmann, Fleming, Cannon, and Devey are hurting with Hauptman still on the PUP. Solder has an unknown injury and Vollmer is still getting better and wearing that brace.. Having 6 OTs hurting at the same time is unheard of..

The fact that they had to have the 6'2 Barker play out there the entire game is telling..

Not sure if its worth kicking the tires on former Bucs OT Anthony Collins..
Gabe Carimi was highly touted by fell flat and many feel he's better suited inside..

Glad to see that Bill realizes he has no legit Swing Tackle (Cannonfodder is Not, repeat NOT, a viable left-side option). Really, he has only one OLman worthy of playing on the left side - Solder. The rest, outside of Vollmer (and could he even handle LT again at this stage of his career?) and Stork (our starting Center), are either right side-only blobs, Center-only midgets, or just plain junk.
