Trollin' Volin smacked down PartII: The Matt Taibbi Edition

Unfortunately, SMY is on maternity leave (she should have had the baby this weekend) that leaves us stuck.

The sad thing is that I think the Globe likes the controversy Volin creates. He takes attention off the flaming pile of turd that is the Boston Red Sox and it makes the Patriots look bad.

She can just write from the hospital or from home, who cares. Watch the games on TV or even just guess what happens this season. It will still be a grade above a guy who would better suited as Alex Jones' intern.

Maybe, but he doesn't create controversy, he's just a shoddy, petty writer (I don't even want to call him a reporter, speculator maybe?) and it makes them look bad.

Volin on D&C this morning advancing the NFL* is protecting Belichick by not releasing all the evidence ...he cited Stephen A. Smith of all people
There is a constant message being spread by the media to get BB. Now with the release of transcripts ,Brady's guilt has been cast in doubt, lets target BB.
Yeah, the league loves BB so much that they are protecting him.

I've kind of always disliked Matt Taibbi. I remember he did a piece on Goldman Sachs a while back that may have had some truth to it but overall he displayed a very poor grasp of the financial industry.

Still, he's spot on in this instance.

Spazzaroti has been yipping about that too. It's the dumbest anti-Patriot theory yet. The NFL hates Belichick, and they'd love nothing more than to catch him doing something illegal. What is the rationale behind the league protecting the gruff media - hating coach who committed the NFL's ultimate sin (leaving the beloved jests at the alter ) and instead going after Brady?

I wish that there was a way for Belichick to take legal action against these clowns for their accusations

Matt Taibbi saying what we're all thinking.
Matt's a fan of the site and I've talked to him quite a few times, he's actually a good guy

If they could the NFL would suspend BB under the conduct policy for pulling in stripers under 36".

Any chance he is the Dikembe Mutombo guy? From the minute that guy started to post, I had a strong suspicion that he could be Matt Taibbi. They both have very similar writing styles. :)

Let's hope he's planning his own article on the NFL's conspiracy... it's a more complicated story than the simple fabrication Goodell and the owners have been promoting since January, but Taibbi can tell it well

If anyone has an "in" with John Oliver, I think this is right up his alley as well, having done a great job illustrating the criminal activity of FIFA

He did write this last week:

Look, I applaud the Boston Globe for its efforts to "mainstream" people like the MCI, but it's not being insensitive as, say, the scriptwriters of "There's Something About Mary" for people to finally take on his disastrous finger painting for what it is.
I blame John Henry!!

She's no bargain herself.

As for Taibbi vs Volin, it's kind of like one of those tiny pocket dogs yapping at a passing trailer truck.

MCI's response was basically "I know you are but what am I??"

Yep but at least SMY has come to this board a couple of times to defend her reporting. Kudos to her for doing that.

Volin is too much of a Globe elitist to mix it up with the people who actually make his work relevent (or prove it to be irrelevant.)

I long and pine for the days of Gammon, McDonough and the others..

Does anyone really believe that if Goodell/Kensil had the opportunity to go after BB they would not do so?? Kensil could flush the viagra/cialis ****tail he enjoys... as he would have a perpetual hard on if he got BB.

I contend that the actual target in this idiotic mess was BB and Brady/Kraft were collateral damage.. the NFL Capo's did not know BB's penchant for using crappy footballs.

Nicely said. Boom. What does MCI even mean in retort? "I don't think anyone from Rolling Stone should be talking." Wow good one Benny, because there's no job more prestigious than working for the elite, world-renowned, definitely not slanted Boston Globe.

In regards to Volin's comment. There are two big stories that has shown the low of Rolling Stone.. The UVA case and the Boston Bomber story.. BOTH were disgusting and cost Rolling Stone a lot of integrity..

Yeah, but at least they had integrity to begin with... And as many have said, Volin is rebutting someone's criticism of his work by saying "well someone else at the place you work, did some bad work, while you didn't work there, sooooo you can't talk"

Edit: come to think of it, feels a lot like Framegate. "We think someone else you work with, may have done something that is sort of against the rules, and you may have known, soooooo 4 game suspension."
