So first Volin gets smacked down by Steph Stradley and then Matt Taibbi. Little Ben should really stop Tweeting because he looks like an idiot.

The column by @benvolin today is a new low.

Ben Volin ‏@BenVolin 22h22 hours ago
@mtaibbi fan of your work, but don't think anyone from Rolling Stone should be talking

Matt Taibbi ‏@mtaibbi 21h21 hours ago
@BenVolin Ben, you seriously think that if there was "way more" to this story, that Wells & co. would leave it out? That makes sense to you?

@mtaibbi I think there are many things that Ted Wells left out of his report and the NFL isn't mentioning, on all sides, not just Brady

Then report them. And if you can't report them, you shouldn't allude to them.

Look, I applaud the Boston Globe for its efforts to "mainstream" people like the MCI, but it's not being insensitive as, say, the scriptwriters of "There's Something About Mary" for people to finally take on his disastrous finger painting for what it is.

Nicely said. Boom. What does MCI even mean in retort? "I don't think anyone from Rolling Stone should be talking." Wow good one Benny, because there's no job more prestigious than working for the elite, world-renowned, definitely not slanted Boston Globe.

Google "Rolling Stone UVA" and you'll find out what he's referring to.

And if you look at Taibbi, you'll see he's been critical of his own mag on that.

Rolling Stone ran a story about a women being raped at a fraternity at UVA. It ended up being that the woman lied about the rape.

But it isn't like the Globe is a bastion of purity when it comes to journalistic integrity. From Rob Borges' plagiarism to Mike Barnicle's making up stories of dying kids with cancer, the Globe has had it's own share of controversy.

Volin on D&C this morning advancing the NFL* is protecting Belichick by not releasing all the evidence ...he cited Stephen A. Smith of all people

Is he out of his mind?

It's absolutely hysterical that anyone would believe the notion that stuff is being withheld to save BB. Have you seen what they've done to Brady with absolutely zero proof but hearsay ?

Just guys in the nfl* office mad that they couldn't pin any of this on BB so they had one of their mouthpieces put out that ******** lie. It also isn't helped that you had some mediots (like the 2-6 beyond dumb show, just to name one) since that bogus report came out saying that BB was being protected.

Yeah, that's what I mean... It would be one thing if Taibbi was the one who did the story... When you get called out for a really dumb move, your response is "yeah well, you can't call me out because your employer ran a bad story recently!"

Might want to let him know that MCI is printing unsubstantiated rumors and ask if this is what the Globe really wants to do. Also let him know that its reporting is being ripped nationally by Matt

Taibbi wasn't with Rolling Stone when they ran that story. He's only recently returned from the failed online mag Racket. Regardless is Taibbi supposed to be responsible for all of RS? If so, Volin has a lot to account for.

That has been established for a while. Guy is trying like hell to get that nfl network/nfl.com gig.
My original post was dumb because I don't think Scoops Volin really has a mind 'to be out of'.

I deeply hope that the rest of the Patriots beat hate this guy, that at pressers they all deliberately sit as far away from him as possible, and that after he dies trying to toast some PB&J in his bubble bath, Reiss leaves the **** hole ESPN Boston has become and rejoins the Globe. Or just let SMY handle it; God knows the quality only can improve by getting rid of the scoopmaster.

Unfortunately, SMY is on maternity leave (she should have had the baby this weekend) that leaves us stuck.

Yeah, I am not the biggest fan of Taibbi, but he would never had done the UVA story since the "victim" only spoke to the reporter under the condition that the reporter did not contact the fraternity and specifically the accused for a chance to respond. No credible journalist would. But you cannot blame Taibbi, even if he was with Rolling Stone at the time, for another reporter's story.
