OT: John Farrell, Red Sox manager, has lymphoma

Just announced on WEEI. He opened his press conference with the information.

Edit: It's stage one lymphoma, and it was found during his recent hernia surgery.


Follow up: He will not be back as manager for the rest of this season. He begins chemo on Tuesday.

Yikes, always terrible to hear. Hope he can make a full recovery. And hopefully Lester can give some tips on how to kick lymphoma's ass.

Hope he recovers well. Thankfully he probably had a doctor that cares.

Imo there are a lot of patients that are misdiagnosed as the doctor pawns it off as something else until is gets to stage 2 or worse.

This has been a horrible professional and now personal year. Hope he recovers soon.

That would be easier if Lester were still a Red Sox. [Not that I'm bitter or anything. . . .]

Wow, this year just got worse for the Red Sox family.
Lymphoma is definitely beatable and it was caught early.

He should take as much time away from the team as he needs to heal himself, including next season.
