Our unconscious picks up much that our conscious minds miss, and gives subtle clues to the conscious mind. Usually these subtle clues are missed, but sometimes people pick up on it. It seems to be more prevalent in true experts. Some call it listening to your gut. There is a pretty good book about it.

How is "The Tipping Point"? I bought it a while back, but the number of books that jumped it in line has pushed it pretty far back on the list.
