Ups and downs?

Question though.

Did anyone notice anything about Richardson? I just lost track of him honestly. Watching too many other things. He was one of the guys i wanted too watch but there were too many.

Waiting for the NFL suck ups to start saying that the Patriots haven't won a game since the new ball handling procedures. All in all loved the 1st defense.

#9 LB - Collins looked very good but no Mayo or Hightower. Backups were meh but okay considering the level they were up against.

???? I thought that Freeney played well against the first string offense of the packers.

Actually I am re-watching the game and trying to focus a bit on Richards. Looking at him i think he quietly had a very good game. I think he is a player.

This looks like a really good draft for the Patriots. I think we got a lot of good players this year.

They did okay only. A lot of yards that GB got were against our LBs on passes Freeney and Morris has some decent plays but were targeted a bit IMO.

Edit: Seems i need to rewatch the LBs maybe. I thought Morris and Freeney both got abused by pass catchers.. Might need to recheck this.

Gibson looked solid. Which is what I expected. He was a really good under-the-radar signing that even at the time I was excited about. He always produces when he's on the field. As long as he stays healthy, he'll make the team.

Boyce, on the other hand, could not have been worse.

I thought Jonas Gray looked quicker than last year and that's a welcome addition because somebody needs to step up at RB until Blount returns.

The OL needs to get better. We didn't see the real OL tonight, though.

And yes, Malcolm Butler was a beast again... following up on his excellent 2014 preseason, postseason heroics and top-notch 2015 camp.

He was moved around a lot like Chung, so it was hard to really gauge what he did.

He was used in the D-mac roll with the back ups. Im guessing they wanted him to practice running the secondary - like Hightower with the linebackers his rookie year. A quite night means he did his job well. He seemed to be in position when ever I saw him. Made a good play on deep ball down right sideline.

Who is this Richardson?

Are we talking about the safety we drafted : "Jordan Richards"?

yes...Richards did OK..considering.

Saw every second with Tunes. Boyce can go away now. #35, I forget his name...buh bye...like YESTERDAY...God, he's awful, like he NEVER SAW THE FIELD BEFORE awful.

Strictly amateur hour in the 2nd half. Meanwhile, GB is a real jerkoff team of glory boys. 1st preseason game and Rodgers is playing four series in a row like it's the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl??? Used to like him, after tonight...screw beat it , discount double douche..and that goes TRIPLE to the azzole drunk GB fans.

Richards had to cover up mistakes by other VET DB's tonight ..BUT...the DB's were ALL playing out of position most of the 2nd half. As fans, this SUCKS because one CANNOT read anything into the scheme breakdowns. Jimmy Jean, though...GOODBYE..3rd and long , instantly beat for 1st downs over and over in single coverage...

To be fair to Boyce, JAG undershot him multiple times.

To be fair to Boyce..in person,he looks passive and lacks fight...he had 2 catches on 11 targets...

He's not my binkie. I wanted Wheaton...

Lack of fight, poor route work and lazy hands are on him. However, he got behind defenders in this game, and the QB underthrew him. Those aren't his mistakes.

Which basically means some other team will take a flier on him when he's cut.

I can't find the predictions thread anymore, but I predicted a big year from Gray. I love his quick delivery. Blount uses his time wisely while he waits for plays to develop while Gray takes off and tries to predict the future. That's two very different backs that will complement each other well.

Great point there, SC.

If McDaniels uses Blount and Gray interchangedly, opposing lines will be facing a rhythm change at the LOS like a baseball batter hitting against a pitcher who mixes speeds. Both are big backs, but each hits the LOS at different rates. Mixing up that rhythm against a line could screw up a front seven..

Given the OL we now have, I hope McDaniels commits more tot the run game this year. I'd love to see Blount-Gray combine for around 25-30 carries per game with Bolden coming in for a few. Not yet sold on any of the other backs, but we'll need either White or Cadet to step up for the 3rd downer.

Yeah, it was a similar situation with the O-Line. Their play overall was no where near good enough, but Jimmy held onto the ball too long a few times too. Plenty of coaching to do.
