Add the 16 million that is due to Luck next year, that is a lot to tie up in two players...

What will they wind up paying their almost star QB in two years?????

T.Y. Hilton have been good ever since he entered the league he's' not even in his prime yet at 25. Great investment if you ask me, Andre Johnson and him should be a very good tandem in this leage.

SHHHH! you want them to spend the $$$$ on D?;)

Teams paying this kind of money for WRs are betting that the salary cap will be increasing significantly in the near term. They just might be right.

On the other hand, if you can't stop the run, it likely won't make any difference.
Really. With their run defense, when are they gonna have the ball to throw to him?

Good, they can continue to acquire defensive players by driving a pickup truck past home depot.

Russel Wilson just got 4 years 87 million. You would have to guess it would similar dollar value with more years. A guess would be 23 million per year for 6 years.

Yeah probably. He's a steal. As for Hilton? Nice payday. Who do we have that's going to stick him one on one now that Arrington is gone?

IIRC from the last three games, he doesn't see the field because the Pat's will be running it for 55 minutes of regulation.

Tsk, tsk, tsk... How will the Colts ever afford to buy another "Playoffs Participant" flag now?!?!?

If I was a Colts fan I'd be a bit pissed about this.

TY Hilton is worth 7M a year (Edelman and Lafell are under paid a bit here btw so comparing those contracts is unfair) and they give him almost double that. Bad contract. If this is how Indy runs their ship Luck is going to have a hard time getting to the promised land.

Hilton is underrated around here. But damn, that's almost Dez Bryant money. He's not worth that, even if he is a top 10 WR. But if you're going to give him $13M per year why on earth would you draft Dorsett? Makes even less sense now than it did back in April.

The contract itself isn't that bad. Hilton is an elite WR despite his height (still towers over me...). I just wonder if they shouldn't instead be investing in their defense...I know Mathis and Davis are pretty damn great, but who else is there?

Malcolm Br...oh wait. lol!:D

They can keep spending where they want. They've won 1 SB. It was that one year Sanders, their safety, played out of his mind w Freeney and friends produced. It was not the crazy scoring seasons.

Mathis has had a season-ending injury and a PED suspension since his last good NFL game, and he's 34. At this point, I would bet that he's closer to replacement-level than pro bowler.

@AdamSchefter: Colts gave WR T.Y. Hilton a five-year, $65 million deal, per source.

Edelman: 4 years 19 million
Hilton: 5 years 65 million

Keep complaining about deflated balls
Wow, that's an idiotic contract!

TY Hilton is a good WR. He is being paid like an elite WR.
God himself could come down and play WR and I wouldn't want to pay him 13 mil. Not only is it stupid, in and of itself, think about what it sets up down the road from other players on the team. If we suddenly paid JE 13 mil, what would Collins say when it was his tturn?

A similar dollar value? For the Chosen One? I think not.

Luck should get significantly more than Wilson. Signing his contract a year later will help, negotiating with a terrible GM will help, and the perception that he's entirely responsible for his team's success will help. Plus deals generally end up being for more than those that came before.

24M AAV is what I would guess. 25 wouldn't shock me.

Hilton is a very good receiver, but he is not at the Dez/Demaryius/Megatron/J. Jones level. He can be taken out of games with man coverage, as we've seen. The Colts aren't going to win a thing following this strategy (except maybe another participant banner). I'd have let him walk rather than over pay by that much. Frankly, I don't think he could've gotten that much if he hit the open market, so kudos for him for getting paid and simultaneously screwing the Colts.
