Thoughts from an Outsider

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! As for why Brady said he didn't know who McNally was it was probably because he knew him by his nickname. Tedy Bruschi didn't know who McNally was either. Bruschi knew him by his nickname.

That's right. His nickname was Bird. Brady would call him Burt (not knowing his actual nickname) and rarely communicating with him.

Then the "incriminating texts" leaked and I didn't understand how Brady seemed guilty from them. Paraphrased obviously, but how did "yeah Brady was pissed -- the ball was inflated outside the legal limit" and "He wants it at 12.5" even mildly make him seem guilty? The only text I thought had any sketchiness to it was the "Brady brought you up, said you must be stressed to get them done" when Brady said he didn't know who McNally was. That might be the one thing I think Brady could have lied about (knowing who McNally was), but either way don't see how it matters because "getting them done" could have meant a number of things, including legally getting them done right..

The part about Brady not knowing McNally is a misunderstanding. Brady knows his face but never knew him by his real name. Apparently McNally has a nickname that everybody knows him by. Tedy Bruschi was on NFL Live a few months ago and admitted he didn't know the name McNally either but later figured out they were talking about Bird or Bert (or whatever his nickname is). In the Brady transcripts, Kessler questioned Brady on this and he acknowledged that he knew the guy's face. It should also be pointed out that McNally is a P/T employee who typically only works on Gamedays at Foxboro. In other words, he only works something like 10-20 days a year.

Nice try, but you really expect us to believe that the only Cardinals fan in the world stopped by to sympathize with us about Brady?

You're a better football fan than I have been. I listened to the radio heads talk about bounty gate and bully gate without looking into it at all. I, unfortunately, devoured everything they fed to me as the real story.

Unfortunately I may not be as good of a fan as you think. I was pretty biased about bounty gate after this [probably ;)] completely legal hit sent Kurt Warner into retirement and the Cardinals back to the dark ages:

Well hey, this might make it a little more socially acceptable for me to jump on the Patriots bandwagon when the Cardinals fall back to below mediocrity :)

Cardinals fan here -- I've been trolling these boards for updates for a while and finally wanted to chime in with my unbiased third party opinion (sorry if this gets too lengthy). For starters, when I heard about the footballs being "under inflated" and that allegedly the Colts reported it when they intercepted a ball and measured it, I thought two things -- 1) Ideal Gas Law and 2) Why were the Colts allowed to measure the psi. When I mentioned the IGL to my buddy he was like "I highly doubt they were dumb enough to not factor that in" and he thought someone cheated.

The Wells investigation came out and I just thought it was a joke. A bunch of BS assumptions that hurt the Patriots and helped the Colts. Every time I explain the BS of it to people I know, they respond with something along the lines of "how is this even a case...." But anyways I'll just wrap this up and say it's completely absurd to me that Brady is suspended at all based on the evidence, and I'm rooting for you guys. And I can guarantee plenty of other fans who disagree now would grab their pitchforks if this happened to their team. Lastly, just throwing this in as a side note...nobody likes the Ravens :)

First of all, welcome! This Board has a long history of welcoming oppo posters who are polite, know what they are talking about and, when they disagree with most of us, know how to do so in a reasonable way, so I hope we see you around during the regular season with comments on the league in general and the NFC West in particular. A good friend of mine lives in Phoenix and is a season ticket holder, so I follow the Cardinals pretty closely.

Thanks for your take on the matter at hand. As a lot of members of the Board know I spent Wednesday in the Media pen (was snuck in by a buddy of mine with one of the national media outlets) outside the courtroom in lower Manhattan and was ten feet from Brady when he exited. The vast majority of the national media were on the NFLPA's side and thought the NFL's case was full of it. I've been posting about Judge Berman based on what I hear from my friends in the media and legal worlds in NYC for the last couple of weeks and I think I've been right on the money about him most of the time. Talking to these folks, you become aware that the "journalists" at HSPN, SI and the NFL Network are a bunch of hacks in comparison. In addition, except for the guys who were trying to sell the deflated football hats, the vast majority of the public was cheering for Brady and booing at Goodell.

Curiosity question: as a fan of an NFC West rival, how did you really, really feel, in your heart of hearts, when Butler picked Wilson's pass. Don't worry, you can tell me...it'll just stay between us. :p
