Official Brady vs. NFL Federal Court 8/12 Thread (LIVE UPDATES)

Keep in mind guys that Brady loves being on the football field at all opportunities he can be on it. This whole thing is making him miss practice and also miss his first preseason game.

He might be simply frustrated that these court meetings are making him miss time on the field already, albeit preseason football.

Don't think I'd turn to the NFL network for an impartial view on this.

You know Russia actually has some interesting news shows on that RT channel on youtube. NFL.com and ESPN could be two of the only state controlled propaganda outlets left.

There are all sorts of rumors today that he and Gisele are breaking up. Interweb rumors so could TOTALLY be piling on.
This picture is from last week.... You can see they're ready to kill each other... :D

Those news sites usually have a nugget of truth. They probably got in a nasty fight. Newsflash, it happens to every couple. Stupid tabloids.

I know! but the photo wasn't actually taken last week. I would link to the story but it's so inane and lacking in details, it could have been written about anyone's marriage. In fact it's probably stock text they use when anyone's marriage is breaking up.

OK my bad.... I thought the photo was from the time it was posted.....

We've all recently been treated to a couple thousand e-mails from Tom Brady made public. I have to think if they were having marital problems, there would be some indication in there.

I want to like today's action but I just can't get my heart into it given that things have broken against NE at every single decision point in this entire debacle :(

My big worry is that:
(a) Berman knows Brady got royally screwed
(b) But he feels that law + CBA language will force him to rule for NFL.
(c) Therefore he's being tough with the NFL to try to push things towards a just outcome (i.e. settlement mostly in Brady's favor) because if he's forced to render a decision he knows he will not be able to provide such an outcome.

You thought Brady was at the beach last week, while his teammates were in training camp? :D

Ya I didn't really think that one through....:D

I wouldn't get too excited about today. The judge could dress the NFL up and down all day and still have to rule in the NFL's favor in the end due to the CBA.

It's obvious that he thinks the NFL doesn't have a strong case to suspend Brady but that doesn't mean the NFL doesn't have the right to do it under the CBA.

I wouldn't be shocked if the judge rules against Brady. I think people are reading too much into this day. I'm hoping he doesn't but in the end, his ruling might not have anything to do with innocence or guilt. It may be based on the power to suspend Brady just or unjust as it may be.

Even if Brady loses, if he's innocent, I'd rather have him fight it and sit out 4 games than to admit to something he didn't do and get on the field. If he's guilty, he should own it too.

I'm worried about this too. But if, as Stephanie Stradley says, the judge focuses on what he believes are the weak part of each sides case there were clearly more weak points on the NFL side. The questions were tougher and he questioned them longer. Even if he rules against Brady, he pretty much eviscerated the NFL's case by asking about direct evidence that Brady conspired to deflate balls. The NFL had to admit there isn't any. Therefore, no case.

I have a strong suspicion you're right. He may just feel Brady's being unjustly punished but can't rule in favor. He may just be trying to shame the NFL.

People thought the same thing regarding the bountygate players and peterson and nfl ended up losing those.

Or that's all part of the judge's game where he's basically trying to bluff the NFL into settling in a way Berman believes is just. If so, then today's behavior is just the sort of thing one would expect.

It's worked out pretty well so far.

Well, let's not celebrate too soon. So far, all we have is a judge pushing hard for settlement and the NFL refusing to budge unless Brady is willing to perjure himself.

If the award is vacated, I'll be pleasantly surprised and admit I was wrong (unlike Goodell, I am capable of doing this).
