Official Brady vs. NFL Federal Court 8/12 Thread (LIVE UPDATES)

This is one of those situations where the more people claim they know the less they actually know. The only people who know what is going on will be in Judge Berman's courtroom this morning.

Negotiation leaks are calculated, and will generally show an unrealistically hard line.

If a leak deviated from that pattern -- and truly came from the side showing apparently flexibility!! -- that would indeed be news.

BTW.. Anyone else think it's stupid to have a "kick-off Concert" in a City where the Kick-off game isn't being played???

Not surprising, this is the NFL we are talking about

Prediction: Mr. Goodell will be at the kickoff concert in San Francisco rather than in Foxboro.
That's fine. Millions will be watching and listening.
"GOOD-DELL, GO TO HELL! GOOD_DELL, GO TO HELL!"

The NFL are delusional.

Brady should just walk into court with Defamation & Malicious use of process suits and then set the ball rolling on filing charges for Blackmail.

That may be legal overreach, but it relates to a point I thought of overnight, and will probably spell out in another thread -- Brady should ask for a single arbitrator to decide:
  • His guilt or innocence.
  • His punishment.
  • Resolution of his defamation case.
A very good judge/lawyer type would be needed, as several tricky parts of law are touched on. (At a minimum, labor law, public figure defamation, and their intersection.)

Alternatively, strike the "defamation case" part, and instead include:
  • Goodell's, Pash's, Gardi's, Kensil's et al. guilt or innocence.
  • Their punishment.

the nfl networks coverage is so over the top.
wish they cared this much about hardy/ray rice/the other scumbags...even hernandez. nfl network avoided him all together!

Be glad that they aren't even more biased to their owner than they are.

Is their bias any worse, for example, than non-Reiss, non-Schefter ESPN's?

Isn't there some sort of class action lawsuit that can be filed against the NFL offices?

with the amount of money that is gambled over nfl football games, surely this farce could be grounds for legal trouble from the public

Doubt it goes anywhere, although in an alternate universe where this was all about a genuine issue, the league could be in trouble for deliberately allowing bad footballs for the first half of the heavily wagered AFCC.

So.....
Brady, "I'm already on record that I'm innocent. I won't admit to something I didn't do."
NFL, "We won't reduce the penalty unless to admit that you're guilty and you perjured yourself."

If that's the NFL's position, a settlement conference is a complete waste of time.

pretty much the definition of a witch hunt.

"Listen just tell us your a witch, and maybe we wont burn you alive"

the problem with goodell's "bad cop" routine, is 1.) hes a chump, but more importantly, goodell is also trying to be the "good cop" and he comes off like the batman villian 2 face, but not the dark knight version, the joel shumaker tommy lee jones version.
They should just throw him in a pond. If he floats, he's guilty and they can burn him, if he sinks, eh, our bad.

Expecting to hear from a media person to understand "honor" is a bit ridiculous . That is why so many... even pats media guys who think Brady is innocent are calling for him to accept one game . They don't get it ! All his life he has played the game he loves with honor , integrity and sportsmanship . Yea he would rather be suspended for 1 then 4 games, but he has to fight it all the way . This is his name, his career, and for the people that matter to him, family, friends he must try and clear his name, not compromise and give in to a corrupt NFL . The NFL has blackened its name not Brady . Godell is fighting for his 44mil, not the NFL .

Brady fight till the end
