If it were overturned, it would be a win for Brady, but it wouldn't necessarily clear him since he would have gotten off on a "technicality." Still, most people don't really follow this stuff closely and would just see that he won and the NFL lost in trying to convict him. In addition, this issue wouldn't really be over, since the NFL would likely appeal, meaning the cloud would continue to hang over our heads.

Sending it to a neutral arbitrator would drag this out further and potentially lead to missing games later in the season, but Brady would get a chance to clear his name to the small percentage of people who really care about justice and don't froth at the mouth thinking about the Patriots. For many of us, though, a neutral arbitrator exonerating Brady or drastically reducing his penalty would likely be more satisfying because the Federal Court can "get him off the hook" but can't actually proclaim his innocence.

Whatever gets him on the field is fine for me. It's not the most popular opinion on this site but I really don't care what people think about Brady. I know he's the Goat and that's it.

Overturned since that would happen sooner.

The evidence is already there that Brady didn't do anything. I give no ****s what some hick in Denver or Indiana think, nor do I give a **** about the delusional conspiracy-ramblings that come from Jersey.

If it goes to a neutral arbitrator there is no way he misses a game ever.
I'm not sure what you think 'overturned' means.
The court case is about the arbitration award. The court can't rule on the initial punishment.
It can only vacate the award. A win for Brady means it goes back to a new appeal, but this time with no morons in decision making capacity.

"Neutral?" Does anyone really believe there is anything "neutral" in an NFL arbitration.

Overturned and then a huge defamation suit after the Super Bowl.

Couldn't agree more with you my man. Let them think whatever they want to think. The truth is, Brady has been shredding defenses and winning titles for years now.

They're losers and so many beat downs from the Pats have damaged them psychologically.

Patriot fans that care what they think are doing it wrong.

As much as I would enjoy an honest hearing from a neutral arbitrator that would most certainly humiliate the league, I just want this over. That said, I would love to see a defamation suit.

Overturned. Guaranteed to play the whole season and get this thing behind him. File a defamation lawsuit later on to teach Roger a lesson.

I CAN'T HEAR YOU BEHIND ALL THESE LOMBARDI TROPHIES. YOU'LL HAVE TO SPEAK UP, BUT DON'T BOTHER. YOUR TEAM IS BAD, YOU'RE A JEALOUS LOSER, AND WE BEAT YOU ALL THE TIME.

(Just copy/paste this and spam it wherever needed. That is the right way to deal with haters, now made instantaneous/paste worthy by a 4th Superbowl victory)

NO WE DON'T USE MAGIC FOOTBALLS. YOU'RE KINDA DUMB AND BAD LIKE YOUR TEAM

Whatever gets him onto the field.

Minds are already made up, the how and when of it won't matter to anyone.

The judge could overturn the ruling saying that it was clear that Mr. Brady did nothing wrong and that the NFL foisted this menagerie on everyone, including Mr. Brady, in an attempt to hurt Mr. Brady and the Patriots.

Yes to both

The way I see it, if the US Federal Court System finds that the NFL is out of its mind and rules for Brady is fine with me. That potentially helps the Pats get picks back (maybe).

I could care less if it goes to a neutral arbitrator. Get the guy on the field ASAP.

Anyone who thinks hes guilty now will still most likely still think he is guilty. You can't fix stupid.

Vacating the suspension doesn't get Goodell fired, while a neutral arbiter displaying Goodell's huge bias and incompetence could grease the skids for him leaving.

The judge is only ruling on the arbitration. He cannot overturn the Commissioners penalties, only refer it back to another appeal hearing before an independent arbitrator.

These could be one in the same thing. Suppose the judge determines the following:
  • The CBA allows Goodell the leeway to do everything up through the punishment assessed
  • However, the Player is entitled to a fair and impartial hearing
  • The appeal was anything BUT fair and impartial
  • The appeal decision is vacated and the whole thing is being thrown to an outside arbitrator
So, you end up with the appeal decision being overturned AND the case being thrown to a third party arbitrator appointed by the judge.
