How Brady could get his reputation back, quickly

Screw 10's of million, I want Brady to go for it all: 100 million from every team for defaming his character for a total of 3.1 billion. That should get Goodell fired.
Make it 3.2 Kraft's kneeling down for Roger made a lot of people believe that he knew Brado was guilty. He is as guilty as any other team owner in the NFL of damage to Brady's reputation.

He won't get it back with the general public...but 90% of them are utter morons so i don't care
I agree that 90% are utter morons, but I also think that because of that fact they have a tendency to follow whatever the media tells them. And just lately a lot of the media seems to be telling them that there is nothing to see here except a corrupt lying NFL front office. 2 weeks ago I thought he would never get his rep back, now I'm thinking he may.

Love the idea of using the winnings to help the older players who didn't get a decent pension.

I don't know how scared the NFL would be, since there would be a high likelihood of the courts dismissing such a case, like in the Vilma case (who actually won his suit in federal court).

I'd be interested in comparing some of the comments made in the Vilma case, but we do know that there were obvious, blatant lies such as the incorrect accusation that Vilma was the "ringleader" of the whole scandal, openly encouraging and even offering incentives for the other players to physically injure the opposition.
Sorry, I can't take credit for the old timers idea. I read in a thread here, so someone else needs to step up. ;)

You made a good point, when you noted that for what I hope to come true Brady's defamation suit would need to pass summary judgment where Vilma's didn't. I don't know what reasons the judge in that case gave for his decisions, nor do I know what points Vilma tried and failed to make.

However there are a few differences I can think of right off the bat that may make a comparison between a potential Brady defamation case, and what happened to Vilma. First of all Brady has a much higher profile than Vilma, and the damages to him will be much easier to prove. Second there is no question that the Saints put up bounties, though I admit I'm not familiar enough with the case to know what evidence the League had or didn't have that would have allowed them to single out Vilma for special attention.

With the Brady case, the vast preponderance of evidence makes clear that NOTHING happened at the AFCCG. There was no tangible proof of Brady doing anything. Yet on the flimsiest of "evidence" the NFL spent multi-millions of dollars in time and effort to defame, then prosecute and punish him, in what was an overtly unfair procedure. A procedure that has already proven that the information initially given to the press and instigated the affair was not in the least accurate. Its been proven that the League, not only purposely didn't attempt to change that incorrect narrative, they didn't allow the Pats or Brady to correct it, or even defend themselves in public. It's been proven that the "independent" investigation was nothing of the sort. Nor can the "independent investigator's" conclusions can stand the light of the facts. And lets not get me started on the absurd over reaction of the penalties to the crimes that weren't committed.

S0, unless you can make some points that would convince me otherwise, I think Brady would be able to present a MUCH stronger case of defamation than Vilma did. One that would at LEAST be strong enough to overcome the "summary judgment" hurdle, and get us to discovery. But of course all this is moot, if Brady doesn't take the next step, regardless of how Berman rules on the 19th.

BTW- Bob Kraft took one step back on his rehabilitation back to my good graces with his last press conference. He can get ALL the way back (IMO), if he takes the next step and either joins Brady in his defamation suit, or brings one of his own. (if it's legal) One because I want my team's good name back, and 2ndly, I want my draft picks back. Because right now, it looks like if God himself came down and declared the Pats and Brady were innocent, and Goodell was Satan incarnate, the NFL still wouldn't have to give back those picks.

Yes, it's looking better than it was a couple of weeks ago, but we've got a LONG way to go before Brady gets his rep back in my opinion. Personally, I don't believe that it's possible.

The majority of the population is still talking about Brady destroying his phone. They're not exactly lining up in droves to read the articles on the poor wording of the NFL's appeal talk, or how Jeffrey Kessler did during cross examination, etc.

The next couple of weeks will turn this in one direction or the other--and possibly for good. In the meantime, I was recently at a picnic in a fairly neutral football rooting area (Cleveland), and people were still up in arms about him destroying his phone. No one had any idea whatsoever what was going on aside from the belief that Brady was just doubling down on his story and trying to go through the motions to save face.

I think we need a fair amount of damning evidence to come out in order to grab the attention of the average fan, if that's what you're aiming for.

I don't disagree with your assessment of the national mood on this case. Hell we can't get a majority of the LOCAL mediots to believe Brady isn't guilty of something.

However I do disagree with you on this point. I really don't believe we need any more information than we already have to get fair minded non-Pats fans, if not change their minds, strongly begin to question some their original suppositions.

I've been able to do that several times. IMO, the key is asking WHY they believe Brady is guilty. Most have no idea except "he destroyed his cell phone", or "he's on the Pats, so he has to be guilty"or some other easily explained misinformation the NFL was spewing.. Then if I take them step by step through the science, the NFL's malicious distortions. and finally to the absurdity of the penalty phase, the wheels will start to turn.

The only tough questions deal with Brady's weak initial response, which can be answered by explaining how he was operating off the initial info the NFL leaked out, which was wrong. And of course the one we might never be able to answer, why Kraft accepted the initial judgment of the league.

BOTTOM LINE - most people WILL hear you out, if you don't dismiss them as haters and have the patience just to take them through the highlights of the evidence we already have on hand. You won't get many immediate converts, but you will get them thinking more critically at what the league office is doing. More than a few have started to fully come around as time goes on.

It's just hard because we have to change a national perception, literally one person at a time

It's extremely hard to prove to complete idiots that water is wet. Sadly, that's the state of our Union these days. I expect Ted Wells to open up a new investigation of the Patriots taping the Rams walkthrough after receiving new confidential information on the matter from a source only referred to as "Sheriff Fork"...

You may ultimately end up being correct, Ken. Believe me, it's not something that I'd wish to be right about. I just don't believe that there are going to be enough people to sway the public opinion and restore Brady's reputation, that's all.

Joker wraps up my thoughts quite nicely. I hate to come off as pessimistic, but I'm skeptical that Brady can end up walking away with a positive reputation again due to the moronic thoughts and half-baked ideas that have already been thrown around this spring.
