Brady's endorsements to drop by 50%

not surprising...brady's reputation has been dragged through the mud the last 8 months.

the nfl's propaganda machine is only rivaled by goebbel's.

I think the NFL* propaganda machine gets a slight edge in my opinion.

It shouldn't matter if he loses money or its doubled his revenue.

He should sue because they simply shouldn't be allowed to tarnish someone in this way period.

Saying that I'd tell the NFL.. I'll sue if that twunt Goddell stays.

Don't see him suing for deformation....but with this entire mess...who knows

Again: the standard is not "malicious intent." The standard—"actual malice"—is proving the NFL intentionally lied.

You mean, for example, if during the appeal Brady stated that he spoke to JJ about deflate gate issues and Roger told the public that he did not?

That's not exactly correct. Actual malice includes making a statement with disregard as to whether it is false. Reckless disregard means something more than carelessness and requires that the person or entity making the statement has actual doubt as to whether it is true but makes the statement anyway.

So, ya think there are no grounds for a Brady defamation lawsuit?

".....Back in February, after winning the Super Bowl, the New England Patriots quarterback enjoyed a “trust score” in the top quartile of more than 3,750 celebrities, as indexed by sports and entertainment research firm Repucom, according to The New York Times .

By the time the Wells Report came out in May, trust in Brady had dropped from 863rd to 3,097th. After a marginal increase, The Times reported Wednesday that Brady’s trust score following his suspension appeal had plunged to 3,635th out of the 3,755 celebrities, at the same tier currently as Macauley Culkin and Britney Spears.

The Boston Globe reported in May that Brady’s “likability and merchandising potential” had fallen to the bottom 3 percent of celebrities surveyed by promotion agency The Marketing Arm, with the likes of Spears, 50 cent and Rex Ryan.

None of Brady’s commercial endorsers, including Uggs and Under Armour, have sacked the Super Bowl-winning quarterback. However, as a financial portfolio manager told The Globe, “The team and Brady can both appeal the decision, but the brand damage has been done.......”

The ideal gas law is a very simple one for middle-school physics classes and does not take into account whether the container is rigid or not, as the volume of space changes with air pressure with non-rigid containers like footballs.

In other words, a metal box and a football, with the same starting volume and air pressure of 13 PSI, will have different PSI's after removing the same amount of air. The fact it's impossible to replicate the conditions on the field in a lab should already flag "not enough evidence", especially as most variables were not written down and the non-independent investigator cherry-picked which verbal statements to believe or not for exponent's calculations.

This is why the NFL will never settle, as long as they lose in court and brady gets no games, brady will likely not go the defamation route. If he losses in court then watch out, I think brady at that point will do it just out of principal.

I think its the opposite - defamation lawsuit happens if he wins in court. If he loses in this battle - depending on what the judge says he might not sue. The other option is if he settles with the NFL - then again no suit.

Lawyers like to take cases they can win. And Brady needs serious momentum to sue for defamation.. It very rarely works.. Brady knows himself - if his lawyer says - look I can sue but we probably won't win - he won't fight that battle.

The key is his lawyer - not some random pundit though.. Right now you can expect him to go through with this because his union is telling him to go through. Brady considers himself a union guy - and what he is doing now is to help prevent fellow players from being screwed over..

Again: the standard is not "malicious intent." The standard—"actual malice"—is proving the NFL intentionally lied.

Proof? Who needs proof?

Just strap Goodell to one of those machines that we saw in "Clockwork Orange," and he'll squeal like a pig.

Done.

"This is an independent investigation"

The investigation was anything but independent

There is a laundry list of intentional lies, and those are just the ones we KNOW about. once Brady's team gets a court to force the nfl to reveal the private info, we will see much more.

Brady could end the nfl if he wanted.

CHeech

CHong

CHasa

I'm seeing a pattern here.

On a serious note, let's hope you're right and Brady's legal team somehow managed to reveal more private info. Exposing Goodell would be a major victory.

Dont think he would make it that far.

He would probably blame someone else for this whole fiasco and try to get out of this scott free

There's little doubt that this will hurt Brady's value as an endorser, and already has. However, as a couple of posters have already pointed out, this article is speculative and predictive, not a report on current reality, like most of what's being written about this scandal.

The thread title is misleading and should be changed.

All his sponsors should drop him then he can really sue for defamation. I say take them for everything.

The other issue here is that a defamation lawsuit would likely be filed in Massachusetts state court, with a Massachusetts jury. Knowing that, it seems unlikely that the NFL would ever let this case go to trial. There would be too much uncertainty with a jury trial. The NFL would settle. Might cost them $100M plus, though. RG could argue that a settlement was in the league's (read: his) best interests. Losing a case like this could quite possibly cost him his job. Discovery would be very interesting.

Pure speculation; basically a "he thinks."

It is pretty unusual for endorsements to be withdrawn prior to a judgment or legal verdict.

They'd look pretty bad if they withdrew endorsing Brady now only to see that his name gets cleared in the end. That'd probably lead him to start endorsing competing brands; a double blow.

Also, sale of Brady's merchandises have actually doubled as a result of this scandal, which would, I think, and more than anything else, influence the decisions of companies wanting him to endorse their products.

Umm.. regarding the part in bold.. In this day and age, it's VERY usual for endorsements to be withdrawn immediately upon a person getting into legal trouble, regardless of the outcome. We saw it with Vick. We've seen it with numerous other players including Ray Rice. And that's just the NFL..

Yup, "knowing falsehood" or "reckless disregard for the truth".......

Don't forget Brady's Dad who must be absolutely fuming right now.
Brady will listen to family, who are telling him to sue this useless piece of garbage.
