I read, heard, or came upon a compelling point made by someone that really resonated with me, but in the ensuing days, I've rarely heard it invoked, and I think its important enough that it needs to be remembered and spread to the masses.

As the evidence grows and become more widely spread about the corruption and malicious behavior of the League office, one of the few remaining arguments the haters and liars have remaining open to them is to invoke Brady's lack of a powerful denial of guilt immediately after Mort's report came out and Deflate gate started to get some traction. One Brady quote is used often is when he was asked if he thought he was a cheater. To which Brady replied, "I don't think so." Not exactly the words you'd like to hear from someone who doesn't want people to believe he's guilty, is it?

So on the surface this seems like a fair point. But just dig SLIGHTLY below the surface, and it all becomes perfectly clear. When Brady was asked this question the immediate report was that 10 of the 11 Patriot balls were fully 2 PSI below NFL required specs. At this point no one had reason to believe that this wasn't true, neither did Brady. It was clearly something very damning and difficult for the Pats to explain.

And then Brady did something very unique, admirable, and honest, and when asked the question, gave an answer that reflected the very questions he must have been asking himself....at that time. "How the f^^k DID those balls get so deflated."

Now months after the fact when we KNOW that the figures the NFL allowed to be spread as the truth so long were both greatly exaggerate and false. Now that we know that NFL REFUSED to allow the Pats defend themselves and disseminate the truth; Brady is still being slammed by mediots and so called pundits too lazy or co- opted by an agenda, to not only understand why Brady said what he said, but to appreciate the rare honesty and candor it took for him to make it.

That truth was once again distorted, manipulated, or simply ignored just to create a "talking point". for some radio show or blog. It needs to be made perfectly clear that Brady's initial tepid responses were the result of the false information the NFL allowed to be propagated, followed by a LEAGUE ordered gag order that effectively kept Brady from defending himself and FURTHER added to the "perception" of his guilt.

BTW- as a personal aside, I find myself getting angrier and angrier as I write this as the shear evil and vindictiveness of this strategy becomes more and more apparent . I have to stop now , because I feel the incredible need to take a shower.

BOTTOM LINE - Just remember this the next time you hear someone like a Tanguay, Volin, or some other hater or manipulato, try and blame Brady's failure to defend himself well as the reason he's got into this mess and incredibly justify why he's being punished. It's ALMOST as ridiculous as the "cell phone" argument.

well, I would disagree with this.

that kind of thinking never occurred to me, and I believe most who parroted that stuff are simply dumb people and/or herd animals.
that was always nonsense just the same as brady calling these guys after the incident was somehow supposed to be damning.
just dumb people being dumb.

Yes....
1) this explains Brady's tepid response
2) this explains Brady's lengthy phone conversations with the equipment guys
3) It likely factored in Belichick distancing himself and Kraft accepting punishment
If correct numbers were released immediately......NO Patriots EMPLOYEE would be seeking answers or wondering about the truthfullness of any of their coworkers....Science would have explained the halftime PSI and we all could have enjoyed our summers.

That's the crux of this entire affair. Even with the sting attempt by Kensil and Giardi, just a little honest reporting of the REAL numbers and a short agenda-less investigation of the FACTS, and the only threads we'd be agonizing over would be from Dobson haters and people freaking out over a Revis less secondary.

It's a great point I've heard Dale and Holley make it quite often.

Rant is posted twice.

Look, it's not even the same SPORT as any kind of proof.

To be honest, even with BS reports out there, it wasn't a good response from Brady.

But the point is, that shouldn't matter.

Agreed agreed agreed.

I get so sick of trolls and stupid media people saying "If I was accused of a crime I didn't commit, I would do XYZ and Brady didn't do XYZ so he must be guilty."

Everyone handles these things differently. And as you mentioned, Brady was being accused with totally false data.

couldn't you also argue the opposite way? If Brady had told someone to deflate the balls, then knew he'd done something illegal, and therefore he would have been emphatic with his denial.

I don't know why anyone gives a crap what the haters say or think.

Absolutely. Like I said, people handle these things in different ways. I honestly saw Brady as someone being as deliberately vague as possible, probably on the advice of counsel, not because of any wrong-doing.

Right on...What should really make you mad is Goodell CREATED the crime! There was no deflated footballs. There was nothing to investigate at all. That's one step worse than just a frame!

But the key is that there was a REASON Brady didn't give the expected answer. It wasn't just because he reacted differently, it was because he was DENIED (by the NFL) the accurate information for him to MAKE a more definitive remark. Remember when Brady was asked the question, it was his understanding the balls were 2 full PSI below spec. That's well beyond the what could have been accounted for by the cold and wet. Of course he was confused by what happened Any innocent person would be.

AND that's what triggered the remark that made him look guilty in the eyes of many. JUST like the NFL office hoped for. when they failed to correct the inaccurate Mort Report.

IF you just see the quote and were unaware of the context and timing, you can see how an innocent response can be made into a weapon by an unscrupulous, naturally biased, or lazy person,

I get your point. Unfortunately, some of the haters hold high positions in the league offices.

That makes it even better for me. All I can think of when I see replays of when The Butler Did It, is Goody and all the others and how much they must have gagged on themselves at that moment. It's been over 6 months and the thought of it still makes me smile.

Better still do not listen to "Tanguay, Volin, or some other hater or manipulato, try and blame Brady's failure to defend himself well as the reason he's got into this mess"...

The purpose of today's media is to spur a reaction rather than inform or provoke thought, the more we react they more they are validated as any attention is "good" attention... their need for some response is greater than their need for common sense.

Marshal McLuhan said a while ago, "The Medium has become the message" or more accurately, "The Medium is the Message"..

Brady in his press conference also strongly denied any wrongdoing OVER AND OVER AND OVER.

Sure, he gave ONE wishy-washy answer after being asked the same thing 5 times. Big deal. Read the REST of the transcript!

Brady's precise words were actually "I don't believe so." Not a big difference, but in the Wells appeal testimony, Wells used those same words to describe his truthfulness in the investigation.

I found that ironic.

"It wasn't a good response" gets a half dozen dislikes? Wow. Guarantee Brady would like that moment back, guys. It's not really controversial.

I think he was just trying to be careful about what he said and it came out bad in front of a lynch mob. That's all. He's not a professional speaker. Poor guy having to be put through all this.
