Stephen A Smith: 'It appears the NFL were after BB and Patriots'

I'm with you.

The NFL thought it in their souls that the Pats were deflating footballs.

I'm starting to think that the Oct Jets game ball at16psi was a sting.

At this point, is it out of the relm of possibility that the NFL would stoop to that?

The generic NFL no, but the Jets Driven NFL probably.. I also agree about the Jets Game ball was as serious offense as the Colts game balls..

STILL TIME FOR MORE REPORTERS TO JUMP ON THE....

Am I the only one who couldn't find this part of video? I didn't listen to whole thing but went to 16:55 and scanned other parts....heard what sounds like alot of old audio and mark schlereth run his mouth (I think that's who it was)

This is not correct. The NFLPA did not release the emails. The judge made all docs in the case public.
The appeals transcript shows that the NFLPA were in favor of releasing the transcript while the NFL was not. Good thing that judge ordered public release of appeals documents.

ok, this is a trap, right?

I don't watch wwe --- is this where they each switch sides, or whatever, and bayless becomes the pats hater?

I havent watched wrestling in some time but i believe its known as a "double turn"

You played chicken with tom Brady. Never play chicken with tom Brady.

You played chicken with tom Brady. Never play chicken with tom Brady.

There is no question that the NFL vastly underrated Tom Brady's commitment to fight this, clear his name...and now win.

Just like in "The Brady 6". Scouts didnt understand what made TB12 tick. In this instance, neither did the league.

If you challenge TB in ANYTHING, you are getting his best and an all-out, to-the-death effort.

Yet Stephen A says "if you want to go after the Patriots, fine.." after he talks about how the league misled everyone about what Brady & his people provided. If all the "evidence" is tainted by the NFL offices lying about the details of something so easily disproved by the Brady emails & texts, how can you justify going after the Pats organization with the anti Math & Science Wells report? We know that the league had its hands in on the Wells report and that it was not independent or objective in any degree. To me, Kraft needs to strike now and tell Goodell "I want my picks back & Putney!"

Read that "First Take" is in Foxboro today?

SAS better be prepared for an interesting welcome.

This is about self-preservation. It is getting harder and harder for the media (even ESPN) to support Goodell. ESPN (and Smith) is trying to save face.
That's guys all want to preserve the fantasy of their "journalistic integrity" (please don't upchuck your breakfast), so now they're either hedging their bets or outright turning on the NFL.

It would be nice to see Skip with a TB12 jersey, a pats hat and a #freebrady banner behind them

It's funny that you say that because there have been times that I've wondered why he has never put on a TB12 jersey for a telecast. He LOVES him some Tom Brady. Even Greenie wore one (because he lost a bet) before I stopped watching ESPN.

You know what would be great? A moment of introspection where Stephen A. Smith realizes that the NFL hand-selected him to be part of this witch hunt because they knew he's such a ****ing idiot that it would totally go over without questioning.

He's the Derek Zoolander of sports reporters (minus the third act redemption).

And Blue Steel.

Yes, and that is very, very different than saying the NFLPA released Brady's emails.
The NFL wanted to seal the ENTIRE record. The NFLPA thought the record should be public, but gave in.
The judge made it public.

The NFLPAs preference was that the entire proceeding be public, the emails were superfluous to that.

I think you're misinterpreting this. What Stephen A. was saying is that since First Take is a debate show they no longer have any reason for discussing this topic because now both he and Skip are in agreement that Goodell is trying to railroad Brady.

no, I may be cynical, but I think I'm interpreting it 100% right. /melgibson

who cares about stephen a??? i dont care what he has to say about anything pats related ( or anything in general for that matter ) lol

Mortenson deleted his original Tweet that initated this mess, and now Stephen A has reversed his position. Bernard Pollard came out in support of Tom Brady. Antonio "Father's Day" Cromartie supports Brady and dumps on the Commish:

This is like WWII and it's October 1944. The Allies have swept past the Siegfried Line in western Germany, the Russians are advancing on Berlin, and the German army is surrendering in vast numbers in Aachen and elsewhere. Hitler is in his bunker plotting futile retaliations but knows that that jig is up.

After so many months of torment, it would appear that the long New England nightmare is almost over. Forward, men.

It will be to me as long as we hear that Brady utterly refuses to accept a single game. At that point I will feel like the scales are at least finally tipped in our favor against the league who is really taking the heat now.
