Does anyone still think the 31 other owners still love how Goodell is handling this?

Ok, I never bought the line "Even though Kraft is pissed, the 31 other owners love this" argument. When was the last time did 31 of the 32 owners agree on anything. I think the owners who hate the Patriots love it, but I think even the owners who came out in Goodell's defense really didn't like how much media attention this got.

But after Friday's release of the appeal transcripts, I am guessing very few are happy anymore. There was already clear signs that many owners were getting upset about the cost, time, and media attention an alleged equipment violation was getting (see Jason Coles' video). But now that the transcript showed that the NFL is led by a bunch of idiots, the headlines are talking about how Goodell mischaracterized (lied) what Brady said about his conversations with Jastremski, and everyone in the League are probably concerned that they are going to get slammed in court.

I don't think this is a tide is turning. I still think a majority of the media and public thinks that Brady is guilty. But I do think the owner again are not happy how Goodell has handled this and even the Patriots hater have to be upset how bad the League looks now. Another NFL offseason where the League ends up looking really bad.

I would hope that their smart enough after reading that to see what a joke this is. .....guess it depends on how strong their jealousy of the Patriots is ;)

Several of them are becoming irate because their organizations are being dragged into the public debate and the credibility of their organizations are being questioned. If this continues to fan out to other clubs; then Goodell will be forced to restructure the front office.

They won't fire Goodell yet, his contract has several more years at a considerable annual salary.

They should be concerned. A member of the "independent" Wells Report team is now acting as the NFL's lawyer during the appeal hearing and is questioning Brady? Sheesh!

Other owners have to be concerned that the league office decides to set up a sting on them based on some minor rule that doesn't even impact the game and never had a significant penalty attached to it but will now end up taking away draft picks and large bundles of cash and end up suspending star players.

Amazing how they find a new way to do it time and again. In this case, it's totally of their own making. Ray Rice chose to knock out his girlfriend. Adrian Peterson decided to whip his child. Kinseth decided to run the sting.

I would hope they have a conduct detrimental clause in there. Probably a potential out for them.

I would guess that, given owners' fear about crossing Goodell, his support is less than a casual media check might suggest it is.

Most children are so self-centered that they only "get it" when it happens to them. So, several owners are probably starting to be aggravated, tired of this act.

Well for a few of them I think they're like Mangini in 2007 - initially thrilled, then less so as things progressed and the information was revealed and penalties were issued. The Ravens and Colts, to varying degrees, probably don't like all this extra attention (with some egg on their own faces for different reasons).

I think New Orleans is saying 'told you so', and some folks in Miami are echoing that sentiment.

The smart owners across the league have kept their noses out of it and probably agreed with Goodell initially, with what little information they likely reviewed, but with a spotlight on the appeal and missteps by the league I think they're having second thoughts.

Then there's Jerry Jones and Woody Johnson, who couldn't be happier. Stick it to Kraft, who's been trying to gobble up power within the ownership group, which Jones is surely resentful of; and Johnson knows his team won't ever get Goodell'd so he's laughing at all of this. Probably getting a kick out of the fact that the Pats footballs were tampered with for the Jets game and wondering whether he paid off a ref or if he should start doing it.

In all seriousness, I think owners are becoming increasingly upset at how this has progressed. Their Commish is being revealed as an incompetent liar who can't control his subordinates and hasn't been able to control the narrative, it got out of hand to begin with but that was Brady and the Pats under the microscope, now it's the League and they can't be too happy about that.

I PRAY that Brady files a defamation suit, discover the ever-loving sh*t out of Goodell, Kensil, Pash, Gardi, Vincent, Blandino, Wells, Grigson, Exponent. Let's see how much NFL owners like their commish when he's revealed as the corrupt boob he is.

Oh, and I think owners are pissed (rightfully so, imo) at Kraft. Goody's been his man from day one, he's backed him every step of the way. In many instances it's worked out splendidly for them--the CBA, tv contracts. But Kraft also backed him during bountygate when the Saints were being railroaded in a similar fashion, he backed him during the Rice fiasco when Goodell clearly f'd up and made the league look incompetent. I think he was largely forced to take his medicine this time and back Goodell again because of those past moves, but he's since reversed course which I'd imagine incensed other owners.

I think Kraft has taken a bit of a beating in the owners locker room, he's paved the path toward a Commish who's drunk on power--and probably just drunk when he rules on things. So they don't much care that the Pats are getting slammed here but I'm sure they're pissed that Kraft so vehemently backed Goodell seeing how toxic he is to the leagues image.

I gotta think that at the owners meeting, they'll be Kraft and a handful of owners having a scotch, chit chatting and *****ing about Goodell.....

Then someone gets a phone call.

There's at least enough of them who love it out of spite that they won't be able to get the required votes to get rid of Goodell. Maybe just maybe they would get the votes to reel him and the rest of the stooges in the league office a bit.

Personally I'd settle for an amendment that no former Jets employees can be hired. I'd call it the IQ test.

Yes, I do. I think that they enjoy having the Pats dumped on and as long as the dimwits at the NFL office are focusing on the Pats that means there is less time to bother them. A win-win for the other owners.

What seems to be happening is that there is a groundswell to limit the Goodell's powers, and that would piss off the owners as it would dilute their power as well.. they currently enjoy some very rarified air with the current CBA...

I have to think the NFL orders have had about enough of this. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if the owners get together and tell Goodell they want to have an independent arbitrator hear appeals. Putting all of the power in the commissioner has looked bad for them.

In this case, I have a hard time believing that the owners want to get it right. Mike McCann says that if the judge assigned this to a neutral arbitrator, he has no doubt it would be overturned.

The owners meet on Tuesday...that will be their chance to tell Goodell what they think. This has to be embarrassing them.

Perhaps the owners will soon start looking for a more competent liar. The NFL office probably already has a bunch of them.

With public opinion now beginning to believe Goodell lies to media and others, the NFL has a big
credibility problem. They may have to swallow his contract and get rid of him.
It's the only way they can restore credibility. IMO

Goodell should have offered a reduction of suspension to two games on appeal. Then he wouldn't have seemed unreasonable, Brady wouldn't have accepted anyway. 2 games for something that didn't happen is ridiculous but the media would have ate that up as Brady not being reasonable. From a strategic point of view the NFL is really botching this. I'm with you on getting rid of Goodell, it's the only way to make this whole defamegate into a positive (for non-Patriots fans)

At this point, if I were an NFL owner, I'd be nervous about my investment for as long as Roger remains commissioner. Next Tuesday's meeting will be epic. What I wouldn't give for an audio tape of that.
