Bequette at tight end is an imposing specimen and he moves well. I wouldn't count him out to make the team at that position, given his versatility and special teams work as well.

Boyce got a ton of reps tonight. Dobson and Amendola looked good. No LaFell or Edelman to be seen.

The two rookie guards spent most of the time on the first unit. Wendell didn't suit up.

Garoppolo's bomb to Boyce beating Jimmy Jean was the play of the night. Otherwise, Garoppolo was erratic and did not seem to be seeing the field well. He got a lot more reps than Brady and needs the work. Brady was near perfect on everything when he was in there.

Just got back home from the practice tonight. Sat with Tunescribe. Just read this thread up until this point.

I'm a homer, I'm the first to admit..BUT..I will NOT "Gaa Gaa Goony!!!" Jimmy Garropollo's performance tonight. Yes ,Boyce DID look good all night ( I was shocked), but it was NOT because of anything Garrop did...if anything he missed Boyce a bunch of times and was consistently SLOW making reads and delivering the ball.

The good news...? Brady looks BETTER than I've EVER seen him in preseason. This homer unabashedly says Tom Brady is the finest QB I've EVER seen play the game. Did he even miss a window tonight? Ask Tunes...Brady looks midseason...Garrop looks "mid -rookie season" THAT is not good.IMO of course. If I hurt any of you Jimmy G cheerleaders, I apologize. I'm a Patriots fans not a player groupie. We DO NOT want Jimmy G starting the season for us if THIS tonight is what he really is.

I could not stand Boyce last season. From the first practice until he went IR or whatever. He looks totally different this season. Body language is a total 180 from last year.Way early to start with the pom poms BUT...

and finally, to my good friend Brady 6....
HOW ABOUT OUR DANNY!!!!!

only the shining STAR of the entire night!!! C'mon B6..sing along with Unca Joe..."D-O-L-A Dola!!"

heh...actually..Danny DID catch a lot of fans eyes tonight. I'm sure a lot of that has to do with Edelman being out but Amendola really looks at ease with everything...routes,receiving, punts ,returns. Just stay healthy.

BTW..the O line gathered in front of us and it seems the two rooks are starting at guard along with Stork, Sea Bass and Solder. Our new TE is a freakin' house also.

The best news? All this Goodellian garbage all offseason seems to have rolled of the Pats players backs like water off a duck. This team looks as focused as any team I've seen the past ten years.

Im skeptical. Last 4 seasons in CLE saw decline in production. I know he had 29 different coaches and systems but that's not good.

I believe that there's two popular thoughts on his decline:

1) The fact that he was clearly injured last year, yet battled through to stay on the field. While he appeared in all 16 games, they used him much more sparingly, only starting him in 5.

2) The change of his position at DE and switch from 4-3 to 3-4 as a LB---and even then, he still racked up 5.5 sacks in 2013 prior to becoming injured last season.

I think Garops will take the majority of reps from now on, since Brady already show no signs of decline and that he owns the system inside out.

Never count out Jake Bequette ;)

Is Wendell officially off of PUP now? If not, that's why he didn't suit up. It's allowing the rookies some early TC reps.

Did you happen to notice anything about Josh Kline at work inside? Just curious as to how much he's being used.

Was going to go..but my buddy backed out...and i got invited for Foxwoods for the night so i went with that

@Joker what did you think of our immortal legend Jake Bequette?

he looked like a TE...weird

Gibson and #10 both looked horrible tonight.

Dobson had his usual night of 1 good/great play followed by a half dozen where you wonder what the hell he's thinking/doing

Tonight was my third practice on the year and Danny has easily been the 2nd best receiver in camp. With Jules having sat a few maybe even the best.

Dobson had a nice TD grab tonight and has looked ok at times but Jules and Danny are clearly on a different level than the group. I think we are a little thin at WR especially with Lafell out so we really need Dobson, Tyms, and Boyce to step up.

Pretty boring session tonight hate when they aren't in full pads plus TB barely played.

Jimmy looks a little slow in his reads but we said the same things about Cassell and Hoyer. It's practice and he usually gets reps with back ups.

heh...yeah..I asked Tunes about five times.."who's that # 13??"...,he's a free agent so...whatever...but you're right...he sticks out as a "soon to be cut" body.

#10 is way way too slow in his reads...I have no idea why

Having been to one TC session, I consider myself an expert on all things TC related. If I say it, then it's true and you must believe it absolutely. Now that I've done my best DI impression, let me make some comments on the comments ;)

1. I'm still happy with JG's progress. He just needs more work. Anyone who thouhgt that he'd be game ready at this point really doesn't understand how far he has had to come to become a real NFL starter. I still believe he is the best of the QB's we've had to back up Brady and has much potential. He throws a nice deep ball, has a quick short release, moves well in the pocket.....and has a LONG way to go

2. I'm glad the 2 rookie G's are getting a lot of snaps with the first team. I'm but I'm pretty confident only one will start. It's still very early. Wendell hasn't made an appearance, and the preseason games haven't given us the full time look we'd need to actually make even an amateur judgment on where they are in their development. The best we can see right now is, so far so good

3. As far as the "Strange career of Jake Bequette", I don't think he will make the team, because the Pats aren't going to keep more than 3 TE's to start the season. But I DO think he will remain with the team on the PS, to be there in case a TE goes down. In the limited action I saw him in in the one session I went to, he looked like he belonged at the position. He showed some nice form in his blocking and decent hands when they threw him the ball.

4. One of the biggest off season question marks going into camp is NOT getting much attention so far. Who is going to be the 3rd down back this season. Is it Cadet? Is it White? Is it Lewis?, Is it Bolden? Is it "to be named later". I don't know. No one seems to have established themselves as the leader out of the gate,. And surprisingly, no one here seems to care that much so far. I wonder why,

5. When I go to today's practice I'm going to be concentrating on the defense more than last time. Hopefully I'll be able to see more of what's happening as I adjust to the chaos of a TC practice.

6. Lots of questions about the secondary. My instinct is that we are going to be OK. Nothing stellar, but OK. I think we are strong and deep at S, and we have enough talent at CB to do a decent enough job in conjunction with the rest of the unit. Time will tell.

Thank's for the update Guys we keep hearing about WR Josh Boyce maybe he gets 'it" this year. If he and Dobson are our #4 and 5 Receivers respectively the Patriots would probably have the deepest group of WR's in the league. Also we know how BB values ST's play that alone might vault Boyce over Dobson on Gamedays if they only dress Four WR's.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think it's because that's a position that's nearly impossible to judge based solely on TC reports. Guys may look fluid and quick catching passes in that scenario, but it's hard to get a read on the less noticeable responsibilities like blitz pickup or whether those smooth hands still work when a linebacker is about to decapitate them.

I'm sure BB and his staff are better at picking up the signs of those things from practices, but I think until we see these guys compete in game situations it will be hard for anyone the board to get good sense of who the guy might be. Just my thoughts, I could be way off.

I'm worried about Laffel missing valuable practices, it's not because he had a strong season last year that this is a guarantee he will succeed again, things chance fast in NE.
