I've been outta the loop here since July 18th. Hopefully I'll be back or a long, long, time.

On the 18th, I had a "mild" heart attack. On the 20th, the doc performed an angioplasty and afterward, he said he came close to losing me on the table. They staff got me stable enough to transport to the Cardiac center at Maine Medical. On the 30th they performed a 6-way arterial bypass. & hours on the table and a full 24 coming back to Earth.

I was released to my house yesterday, with a bag of drugs and a whole slew of directions, etc. Lots of time-killing things, those. :)

Anyway, my posting will be light for about the time that the season starts. Maybe a tad longer. I'm unable to use the 3 small fingers on my right arm due to nerve damage during the procedure. It will get better, but may take as long a 6 months to recover. Imagine hving to try and type if your right hand had gone to sleep. That's what it's like now. Sigh.

Anyway, I've had some lovely messages of support, and I just wanted to come on here and say "THANK YOU! for them, and to say how good it feels to be back here. To be candid, my whole body aches like after the end of the first week of training camp. But, it's all fixed and with a couple month's rehab, I'll be good to go.

So if I'm just lurking rather than commenting, now you know the rest of the story.

I don't know you, but glad to hear you are improving. That's sure sounds scary! Don't worry about posting, as long as you can click the next button, there are literally thousands of posts to sift through in the past few days. It's been pretty busy here for sure.

Get well and keep improving Gwedd! You have always been a great poster on this forum.

Best Wisches to you and your Family from Germany.

Heal up quick. Stay off the boards they'll give you another coronary.

Wonderful news that you came out of it OK! Sounds like a heroic surgery, and here's to a full recovery! ;)

Get well soon. Scary stuff. Glad you are still here!

Glad you are back. Take it easy.

God hears two kinds of prayer:

"Please please please..."

and

"Thank you thank you thank you!"

Sending both for you, Gwedd. God bless and be well. :)

Glad to hear you're getting better!

all the best to you

Wasn't the same without you and I'm glad to see you are ok. Looking forward to your posts.

So, Gwedd, having been down that path myself, did you experience an intense bright light and a slow acceleration towards the center of that light until you found yourself in front of a man in a referee uniform waving a yellow flag saying, "I am Ben Dreith. Go back from whence you came. Inflate the footballs to their proper air pressure!"?

I did. But it was too late.

Oh, and don't screw around with your cardiac rehab. Opening day is just five weeks away.

Glad to hear you're doing better. Pats Nation stays strong while *****es stay hating.

Someone update that thread

Gwedd, buddy, Welcome to the zipper club. You can PM me and I can give you a full rundown on what you can expect right down to the nerve damage to your fingers.

The bad news is that it's going to take almost 8-12 months before you regain your full strength. I remember after the first month almost going nuts because I didn't see the same kind of progressive improvement I was used to when I had athletic injuries. I thought they had F'd something up. They hadn't. You just have to remember that they just cracked open your chest and fiddled around with your insides. It will take some time.

The GOOD news is that I had mine done almost 8 years ago, and while everything else about my body seems to be falling apart, my heart is not one of the problems. ;). Now THAT was 8 years ago. I can remember my cardiologist telling me that about every 6 months they come up with improvements, so I'm sure whatever they did to you, is better than what they did for me.

My best immediate advice is to say away from funny people until your sternum starts to heal. Laughing is a killer.....and sneezing too. :D Good luck and stay in touch

Hi Gwedd, so sorry you had to go through this ordeal. Unfortunately I too know the feeling patfanken described. My advice is simple: don't overthink about every symptom you have, but don't be a stoic about them either. Try to relax, eat well, keep yourself moving, and believe that your best days are yet to come.

Glad you made it through.....we need as many passionate, thoughtful Patsfans as we can get right now. Heaven can wait...

P.S. listen to your Dr and Ken.
