I think you should include the % of AFCCGs and Superbowls each team has played in.

A slightly different way of putting it. Since 2000, there have been 15 AFC SB representatives, and 15 AFCCG runners-up. On average, if there were true parity, you would expect each team to have one of each over the last 15 seasons.

Patriots: 6 SB appearances, 3 AFCCG runners-up
JEST: 0, 2
Dolphins: 0, 0
Bills: 0, 0

Put another way: since Brady took over, a down year is not reaching the AFCCG.

The best kind of old news is the kind that never gets stale. Thanks for the smile :)

I was thinking of starting a separate thread for this question, but it ties into the theme here:

I've heard people asking, why would the league want to tarnish Tom Brady, one of the best players ever? They can't imagine a reason, so they think the witch hunt claims don't make sense.

I think part of ties back to the team's success noted by IllegalContact. Combine that with Brady being a 6th round pick, the lack of a high draft pick, big name WR for much of his career, the constant harping on the overblown situation from 8 years ago, the media's dislike of Belichick and some people are always going to wonder if there is something going on.

For a comparison, the college basketball message board I post on has a deep hatred of John Calipari, the Kentucky coach. He was sanctioned by the NCAA at UMass and Memphis (he left both jobs before the sanctions hit), so the default thinking is that he must be up to something at Kentucky. Any time there is a hint of wrongdoing with the Wildcats, a thread is created and populated with "I knew it!" type posts. Then it turns out it was nothing and everyone waits for the next crumb to drop a few months later.

The different is, if the people in the league office are thinking like a bunch of college basketball fans, they have the ability to run with on of these allegations and make it stick. The league hears the complaining from other teams, they think something must be going on, so they pounce. Except nothing was actually going on and they were completely wrong.

A shorter answer to why the league would want to tarnish on of their top players: Ignorance, arrogance, and a pre-conceived bias.

Tell us how you relly feel.

Also you should include Cassel in your list of Pats QB's.

I believe Brady is 'collateral damage' due to the law of unintended consequences............Belichik and Kraft are the ones they don't like and out to get...........this situation is smudging Brady strictly due to the sheer incompetence of the perpetrators.

they screwed up so badly..........their big chance to take the big bad pats down and they turn into the boy who cried wolf.........I can only guess that the Pats won't be bothered for awhile while the colts and ravens take the heat for being dirty rat bastards and jerry jones and john mara have to explain how they look so stupid in babbling how goodell is doing such a great job.......the smouldering crater from this one will be massive

this is provided Kraft doesn't go postal

I think certain owners have their reason for supporting Goodell* in his FrameGate/SlanderGate initiatives against Brady, and this is it

But I think some owners also were/are worried that their golden boy commissioner was under-fire this time last year and were more than happy to kill two birds with one stone

Let's not forget that in the fall of last year people were calling on Goodell to resign over the Ray Rice slap on the wrist penalty in which Goodell asserted "Gee - I had no idea Rice hit his fiance - Rice lied to me during our interview" (despite the fact that it was in the police report and common sense affirms what happened even without the inside-elevator video)

This had to be a bit disconcerting to a guy who gets $40 million a year plus free football games and an expense account

FrameGate was a win/win for Roger to go from having fans calling for his head in 32 NFL markets to fans in 31 NFL markets wanting to nominate him for a Nobel Prize

I have a feeling we may come full circle before Week 1 in terms of fans or others calling for Roger's resignation again - in part thanks to all the fans keeping the pressure on

In my opinion the pressure needs to be put on the OWNERS at this point

As long as they think Goodell is a buffer between them and the public and the media, they'll keep Goodell in his position - once the hammer begins to come down on them they're going to have to make some real institutional changes to save what's left of the "integrity of the league"
