500 pages!!!!! Holy Cow....

on p91, Brady tells that idiot Goodell specifically why he gets rid of his old cell phones. Goodell can't even comprehend that.

LOL, the wells investigative team led by Lorin Reisner did the cross examining of brady.

OK - here's something I'm having a tough time with (in a good way)

In his allegation against Brady, Wells and Goodell believe that McNally and/or Jastremski are involved in some type of nefarious activity

The trolls of course are out saying "They should put The Deflator up on the stand and have HIM testify under oath!!!"

Unless I'm mistaken, couldn't Goodell have called both of them to testify at the hearing? I mean, they're at the heart of this. And if they were requested, could they or the Patriots refuse? I don't think they could.

Roger would have had a GOLDEN opportunity to put them on the stand and cross examine them - and try to get a confession out of them as Florio and others suggest (noting that Wells interviewed them FOUR times and never got a confession)

This strikes me as a GLARING but TELLING purposeful omission by Goodell. The LAST thing he wanted to do is have those guys sworn in and say what they said to Wells.

NOTHING HAPPENED!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong about this but damn, I think Roger effectively admitted that having the sworn testimony and potential confession of the supposed perpetrators was the LAST THING he wanted - it was just too high a risk that their denial - UNDER OATH - would have ended this gravy train of positive press from 31 other NFL markets that had people forgetting what an under-fire Commissioner he was post Ray Rice Video scandal

Highlights:
Ted Wells outright lies about "not knowing" what Walt Anderson inflated the balls to at HT, Kessler points out it's right there in the report - 13.

Ted Wells does not believe in the ideal gas law.

The post game league report states both teams used the logo gauge, like Walt Anderson said he did - which Wells said wasn't true and that it would be "lightning striking twice" for both teams to have faulty gauges.

Exponent didn't factor time of possession into their study, invalidating the entire thing.

Holy Crap

I emailed my theory to Florio

And then this happened

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/08/04/why-didnt-goodell-call-jastremski-and-mcnally/

Geeze, I hope pointing out this fact doesn't somehow backfire, but for me this was THE PROOF that Goodell doesn't give a crap about the truth and never did

That'll make my day if this helps exonnerate Brady

I think at this point it's safe to say that Florio is reading this forum...

He'd be smart to do so - but I emailed him this about an hour ago

Mike - thank you for your excellent reporting on DeflateGate. This could really be your opus as if it turns out this was a set up and the Commissioner himself has no integrity, you could be doing EVERYONE a favor by restoring some credibility to the game. (Obviously I'm a Patsfan)

One thing jumps out at me in looking over the transcript. I haven't read it all but I don't see that McNally or Jastremski were called as witnesses by Goodell?

Was the NFL prohibited from calling them? Maybe he was - I don't fully know the rules of an appeal on whether witnesses in the investigation can be called back - but I thought Goodell could call who he needed to and I wouldn't think that they or the Patriots could refuse

In his allegation against Brady, Wells and Goodell believe that McNally and/or Jastremski are involved in some type of nefarious activity

Roger would have had a GOLDEN opportunity to put them on the stand and cross examine them - and try to get a confession out of them as you and others suggest (noting that Wells interviewed them FOUR times and never got a confession - and in fact wanted to interview them a FIFTH time but the Patriots back then said "enough" when it was clear he was fishing.)

This strikes me as a GLARING but TELLING purposeful omission by Goodell. The LAST thing he wanted to do is have those guys sworn in and say what they said to Wells.

NOTHING HAPPENED!

But maybe the rules of an appeal rule out Goodell calling previous witnesses? I don't know.

But if Goodell CHOSE NOT to put them on the stand under oath that strikes me as a HUGE de facto admission that Goodell is NOT interested in getting to the bottom of this - but instead wants to drag it out as long as possible without having any resolution.

More comedy gold:

COMMISSIONER GOODELL: Mr. Kessler, who did this come from?
MR. KESSLER: The petition?
COMMISSIONER GOODELL: Yes.
MR. KESSLER: The quarterbacks and the League all signed it.
COMMISSIONER GOODELL: I know. I signed it. But who did it come from?
THE WITNESS: Peyton.
COMMISSIONER GOODELL: Peyton?
THE WITNESS: Manning

Interesting observations
1) Wells doesn't understand science -- he talks about the Ideal Gas THEORY
2) Wells had nothing so he seems to have based his conclusion on Brady not turning over documents
3) Goodell found Brady guilty partly because they didn't call Jastremski and MacNally

Notice a them.....they ignore ALL evidence.

No matter how this comes out, no way does the NFLPA let the commissioner stay as the court of appeal.

it's brady's appeal -- commish doesn't need to call anybody or do anything, esp since he's judge/king

LOL at Curren

This transcript from the Brady appeal gives us a nice, unfiltered look at how the men running a $10 billion per year business operate. And it’s a shock to me they don’t pass out crash helmets every morning at 345 Park Avenue.

I can't believe Goodell asks if he gets rid of a phone because it "runs out of time." $30m a year. Jesus. Kill me.

I don't think that was an accident.

Wells was the smartest guy on that side of the table that isn't an experimental particle physicist.

that may be the best thing I ever read in my life
T4T

edit: btw, that was pages 86-88

I also liked Brady's side offhandedly referencing the psi threshold was set in 1920. Just to give perspective as to how insane this all is.

I find this line of questioning very interesting. I wonder why Kessler thought the interview reports were in the room and that the NFL was using them to their advantage?

Kessler. That would be in the interview reports if you 15 kept the interview reports?
Wells. That's my recollection.
Kessler. But you took notes of all that, either you or 18 your staff, right?
Wells. Yeah. 20
Kessler They exist, those interview notes?
Wells. Yes, sir.
Kessler. Okay. And they contain a lot of information 23 that's not in this report, correct?
Wells. Oh, yeah, thousands of pages.
Kessler Okay. Have you ever shared any of those CROSS/WELLS/NASH Page 321 1 interview reports with counsel for the NFL -- 2
Wells No, sir. 3
Kessler -- in this matter -- 4 A.
Wells, sir. 5
Kessler -- to prepare for this?
Wells. Not a bit. 7
Kessler It wasn't just shared with counsel for the 8 NFL today in front of me as I was looking across as 9 they were preparing to do examinations? None of 10 your interview notes have ever been shared with any 11 counsel for the NFL?
Kessler A. No, sir. 13
Anyway, those reports exist, correct?
Wells A. I said that. 15
Kessler. And you know that it's been ruled that we 16 can't get access to those reports in this case?
Wells I understand that. 18
MR. KESSLER: I don't have any further
