Mort FINALLY hits the delete button

I was trying to be more half full glass but I don't see how this can help Brady in any way. I thought maybe a late (very) correction could favor Brady's side, but the judge is not going to look to the origins of this farce I believe.

Mort never admits to getting a story wrong. What people don't get is whenever he gets a story wrong, he acts like he did yesterday denying he got it wrong or that he changed his story before he got it wrong. He is pathetic.

Adam Schefter defending Mort vigorously was disappointing to say the least I loved NFL network Adam Schefter but after his interview I don't know who my favorite analyst is I have to say Deon Sanders

Mort is stuck between admitting that he was deceived by credible league officials and admitting that he's just an irresponsible journalist. He will admit to neither.
Remember that on WEEI a few days later Mort said he followed up with 'multiple sources' after conflicting reports were out there. According to him his sources said 'no, you got it exactly right'.

So yea, either he's flat-out lying about what sources told him or they lied to him. There's no gray area, and I hope this gets exposed one way or the other. However it happens I want his multiple league sources outed.

That Jason Cole is reporting NFL won't accept a deal without at least a 1 game Bradys suspension. I hope.he don't accept it

Man, I never expected Mort to give up his source. I never expected him to apologize for reporting bad information. I think my hopes and expectations were pretty reasonable here. All I really expected was that he should retract his initial report when it was proven false by the Wells Report, and he should probably acknowledge that someone in the league office lied to him. Considering that he was reporting that he confirmed the story with league sources after he ran it, there's no other alternative. There was no misunderstanding or miscommunication. He was lied to.

As of today, he's now done both, but it's too little, 3 months too late.

This was never going to help him in his appeal hearing or this suit. This is all about PR and legacy, and potentially a defamation suit. Not sure he wants to go down that path, the only damages would be monetary and the case would drag on for a while with a very high bar to clear. But I'm dying for the NFL offices to be exposed for the biased, railroading assholes they are.

There are two fronts to the war Brady is fighting.
1) Legal court
2) Public opinion court

For legal court, not very helpful. However, Kessler may introduce certain aspects of the Wells Report into his argument (like inaccurate ball measurements, IGL) to demonstrate that the foundation of evidence that supports Brady's punishment is baseless and shoot holes in the NFL's 1/2 ass standard of proof.

For public court, we can all agree that battle has been lost. But little things like this help people like us and others, over time argue with the uninformed.

It's a little to late. ....he helped literally shape the general publics opinion of Brady and it don't appear to be changing much. Just heard them on the radio use the phrase "Brady cheated " he needs to own up and he probably lied because he was worried about not playing in superbowl, etc.
When will it ever end? I hope he wins of course but hope he does sue after too because they did damage his reputation!

Yeah this thing is not going to end for a long long time. Even without a lawsuit there will be stories, documentaries, leaks, people coming clean years down the road, McNally and JJ's book, interviews and on and on and on...

The tide is turning, slowly but it is turning.

From my understanding, the most interesting part of a defamation lawsuit would be the discovery. That would be something.

FYI, Schefter works for ESPN just as does Mort.

Not surprising. I just hope this judge sees this for the farce it is. I can't see how he wouldn't. Justice is supposed to be about fairness. In no way is even a 1 game suspension fair. It isn't Bradys fault that the league spent 5 million on an investigation. Him serving any suspension to try and justify that is unconscionable.

I would say the PR battle has been lost but the PR war is not over and won't be for a very long time.

In that instance the question will be 'why didn't they do that on appeal?'

Brady needs to hold his ground and refuse involvement in any rules violations.

Figured this will happen. Brady under oath said he was innocent. Now they want him to accept guilt ? If NFL started with 1 game as a negotiation it looks even more strange to jump from 4 to 1 and after Goodell said in his ruling that 4 was 'lenient' for first time violation for 'enhancing performance to gain competitive balance'. Of course they maybe just putting brady in a spot in front of the magistrate to show good faith and force brady to make a deal.

James Baker, when advising the Presidential Campaign of George H. W. Bush in 1988, once said (words to this effect): "If you get caught in a lie about your opponent during a debate, 40 million people hear the lie but only 40,000 ever read the retraction." You're right. The damage is done.

what's the difference between saying 2 PSI and "significantly" underinflated. None. They both carry the same innuendo of cheating. Replacing the terms means nothing.

That's what the NFL does and that's what they did here. They start off high so they can pretend to be reasonable and acting in good faith when they offer to negotiate it down to 1 or 2 games.

In this instance, even a single game is a tremendous miscarriage of justice. I only hope the judge sees the NFL's tactics for what they are.
