Sick & Tired of Bathing in Magnificent Glory???

I think Larry Bird's steal of the inbound pass & dish to Dennis Johnson against Detroit ( I forget what year ) in the NBA playoffs was on par with Butler's INT. Not to diminish Butler's play at all. I went nuts & was jumping up and down like all of you.

that was legend
about the only impression I ever did was Most doing that call - used to tear up my throat, tho

What I wouldn't give for the videos of Goody, Kensil and all the other Jesters, sitting around with family and friends (if they have any), and their reactions at the moment The Butler Did It. I wonder if they were wearing Seattle colors or were faking impartiality when they puked Jet green on themselves.

The way that the video craze has spread since the Pats last won in 2004 has really helped make this one of the most enjoyable of all the SB wins. It's been six months and it's still oodles and oodles of fun to watch those videos.

They were gutted but most likely they just said, "well they're going to lose their 1st round pick anyways and all the country is going to say, 'Haven't won a superbowl since deflategate' suckers!"

When you watch all those reactions it makes you remember how great of a game that really was. It had everything and was one for the ages! If the NFL could only stick to football.

My favorite reaction to Butler's int is Pete Carroll realizing he just made a colossal mistake. It's on the 3 games to glory DVD . Had to rewind and rewatch a few times cus it had me laughing.

"OH NO!"

I have to admit that, as much as I want to revel in the schadenfreude, my heart breaks for Petey every time I hear that. Call it an automatic empathetic response. :)

I understand that but it was either him or us. Either he is saying "oh no" or the Pats and all the fans are saying it. It is too bad that he will judged by that play for the rest of his career even though he had helped build a juggernaut of a team.

I think Petey needs to take the blame for the team's predictability, which is the main reason that The Butler Did It. The Pats knew exactly the play they were running and had worked on it. It was still the greatest defensive play in NFL history though.

Sure, it wasn't the best play call but it was also thrown a little poorly, the receiver didn't reach out to get the ball and Butler made the play of the century on it.

Belichick not calling a timeout was genius. (Although at the time I was yelling something else at the TV)

Still can't believe that happened. Unbelievable.

That Bird play is a great comparison.
Both plays were aided by the non-call of a timeout.
Both plays had a defender picking off a pass.
Both plays were made by players whose name starts with the letter B.
Both plays resulted in a Boston championship, though not right away in the case of Bird's play.
Did I miss any?

Just goes to show you how slow the game goes for a pro like BB and how fast the game goes for chumps like us.

Grid, thanks for this (just getting to it). Nice to have in the midst of all the meager-by-comparison victory dances going on about legal transcripts.

today i learned: You can't spell LOMBARDI TROPHY without TOM BRADY.

(seriously why haven't i seen this before?)
