New Order From Judge Berman (Friday 7/31 Afternoon)

Albert Breer, who is that...sounds made up to me.

I don't know why that is even a thing. Brady will be there in person. I'm sure Belichick will schedule practice to accommodate. Probably early practice on August 11th, Brady gets some work in and then he makes the one hour flight to New York.

August 12th if there is a legit practice and not a walkthrough practice it will benefit Garoppolo to get all the reps as Brady will see 0-2 series in the August 13th game against the Packers.

Now the court proceeding on August 19th will keep Brady out of the first joint practice with the Saints

Somehow, I can appreciate the irony that it's the Saints. :)

They should try some actual investigative journalist, follow the breadcrumbs and locate the source of the rumors. Probably someone overhearing the wrong comment or straight from NFL* HQ.

Is there any credible report that Brady is thinking of attending by phone other than the vague assertion in this article? If there is, does anyone know the "good reason" that has been suggested for that decision?

Of course there is! Albert Breer said it was OK.

This is ridiculous. The judge says "if there are extraordinary circumstances, Brady and Goodell may attend by phone."

Media #1: The judge would only make that announcement if someone asked him about it!
Media #2: Tom Brady asked to appear by phone!
Media #3: Tom Brady isn't attending in person!!

Was the reasoning in the original decision and the appeal the same? Was the original decision based on the player conduct policy or the violation of ball inflation rules?

Vincent's letter and the appeal decision both primarily cite the "integrity of the game" clause from the player contract as the policy Brady violated and the punishment he received:

15. INTEGRITY OF GAME. Player recognizes the detriment to the League and professional football that would result from impairment of public confidence in the honest and orderly conduct of NFL games or the integrity and good character of NFL players. Player therefore acknowledges his awareness that if he accepts a bribe or agrees to throw or fix an NFL game; fails to promptly report a bribe offer or an attempt to throw or fix an NFL game; bets on an NFL game; knowingly associates with gamblers or gambling activity; uses or provides other players with stimulants or other drugs for the purpose of attempting to enhance on-field performance; or is guilty of any other form of conduct reasonably judged by the League Commissioner to be detrimental to the League or professional football, the Commissioner will have the right, but only after giving Player the opportunity for a hearing at which he may be represented by counsel of his choice, to fine Player in a reasonable amount; to suspend Player for a period certain or indefinitely; and/or to terminate this contract.

Goodell also cites punishments to teams, coaches, and other club personnel as precedent for Brady's punishment at various points in his appeal decision, though.
