With roster spots currently open, if the Ravens release Elam do we put in a claim on him?
With the thoughts to shelf him for next season?

Is there any site to track players getting cut or going down with injuries, it's already training camp and we are still talking about this focking deflate gate. I want football news, wouldn't mind a thread specific to follow the TCs around the league.

I would not put too much time into thinking about it because the Ravens are not going to release Elam because of an injury. Ballard and Gaffney were fringe players, not first round picks who have started 26 games in their first 2 seasons.

Didn't a lot of people (probably me included) want him a couple years ago in the draft?

I would maybe even consider Tavon Wilson to be better than Matt Elam. What does that tell you about Elam?

The article I read on NFL.com predicts he's released Ravens fans said he was in much better shape and had a clean mindet if they release him it doesn't hurt to shelve him in my opinion.
We all know BB has done this before.

On a separate note did the Steelers steal Boykin from the Eagles or what?
Would of made a fine edition.

Very little reason for the Ravens to release him. He's still on a rookie deal, even if he isn't very good.

Matt Elam and DJ Swearinger...the two that got away :D

I was way off on him. I thought he was going to be the next great NFL safety but he's just another example of a great college player that simply can't hack it in the pros.

Armchair GMs wanna talk about BB misses

Matt Elam and Arthur Brown were complete whiffs by Newsome.

Newsome got bailed out on that Brown pick because they had a meh season and got a middle of the round pick and Mosley was there

Safety is becoming a hard position to evaluate. We've seen a lot of early round picks either not pan out or bust. Then you see 5th rounders like Chancelor or converted cbs like McCourty shine. Right now Harmon is a better option than Elam or Swearinger. At least imo anyway.

Really interested to see how Richards pans out.
