Is that him insinuating that something is going to come out in the next 12 hours? Because that is what it sounds like to me.
I wasn't sure if that was what he meant. I was also thinking he might have meant sarcastically that "gee there's nothing going on in the sports world these days..... if nothing happens in the next 12 hours, we won't have anything to talk about....."

It was just an extremely poor joke on my part. :(
No, long weekend on my part. I missed the
sublety, especially withthe other thread asking if NBC would muzzle Florio....

Watch Florio become commish after Goody Goodell is sent packing. He must have an angle.

In Florio's article he said Curren was Dinos source on Kensil being Mort's primary source.

Interesting as Dino didnt out Mort's source.

He's obviously being sarcastic. This story, with all its intrigue and legal strategy, is right up his alley, and he's got more than enough to talk about.

I do wonder if the NFL is going to fire a salvo at the Patriots tomorrow.

The line "I hope something happens in the next 12 hours," is getting me so darn excited for some reason...

Taken in its entirety, his tweet was ridiculous if read literally. So I presume it was a joke.

If you'd told me back in 2007 that we'd be in another scandal 7 years later and Florio would be one of our most mainstream allies... I would not have believed you. Maybe more than anyone else, he was absolutely burying the Pats during spygate.

I hear Easterbrooke and Borges are next to throw down in support of the Pats.

They can't. They are one of the two parties to whom Judge Berman read the riot act on Friday.

The Patriots (Kraft) were not one of those parties, however! :)

Part of this story is truly about law. Florio is in his element there.

Part of this story is about an evil lawyer, namely Pash. Florio is in his element there too.

Presumably, he realized early on that what the NFL said didn't make sense, which may have helped him be early -- relative to the other media at least -- in generally assessing the situation, and focusing his reporting accordingly.

------------------------------------

Analogy from my own career:
  • I realized a certain technical claim that a software maker was making was ridiculous.
  • They clammed up when I challenged them.
  • I had a general reputation for being more technical than other analysts.
  • Somebody has a story to leak about a more important product of theirs that didn't work, and chose me to leak it to.
  • I relied on relationships and general technical understanding to run with the story from there.
  • The whole thing was one of the biggest technology news events of its day.

But doesn't the NFL have the right to quickly correct Kraft's public misinformation?? It would be terrible to let something defamatory like that hang out there unchallenged!!

:D

Bank on it.

The NFL would rather lose in court than a PR war.

  • Agree

IIRC, he's already said that he wanted to bring part of this up on the Super Bowl telecast but the NFL didn't get back to him.

Make book on it...Brady? Kraft? Belichick?
If I'm one of the other reasonable owners, I look at this and... ask if it's worth it on the long run if it damages the brand...
I have a theory but I don't want to give the league any ideas.. PM me

No.

The NFL should not quickly correct Kraft at all because ".......... piecemeal disclosures are (not) likely to accomplish much, and that if anything, I would think they are likely to prompt additional questions, additional stories, and additional irresponsible speculation and commentary.”

Karma's a *****, ain't it Pashy Boy?

I think that's called 'Being Hoisted On One's Own Petard', no? :p

NFL will simply say," it wasn't us"...After all, the rules don't apply to them.....
Hell hath no fury like a Federal Judge disobeyed......I really hope they do leak....
