Peter King: Russell Wilson and the Seahawks have agreed to a 4-year, $87.6-million extension

I'll tell you this, I think it's a good deal for both sides.

IN today's NFL the QB only needs to be ok to get a great deal, there are few great QB's or even 'very good' on the game today, and they are locked on their teams.

Wilson today deserves more money than Luck, and the rumors on Luck are on the 25Mi/y neighborhood.

Wilson makes plays, he can win games and he is only going to get better, 2 SB, one slipped through his hands literally, and in his first year he was making plays in the playoffs already, against the Falcons. The clutch factor is very important, look Flacco. He is a top 5 QB today imho.

Ran some quick numbers (yeah they could be wrong)
in games where the team game up more than 24 points ..including playoffs
Brady 30-29
Manning P 30-55
Rodgers 13-23
Brees 21-61
Roethlisberger 8-32
Flacco 10-19
Wilson 0-7

more proof that tommy's the GOAT.

He makes Brees look tall, so I like him.

While RG is on a crusade to mess up americas game, I would ask that he institute a 5ft 10 maximum height on all QB's that are not in a state that resembles footwear. Should be right up his thinking path.

The Seahawks must finally be up against the cap.

Russell Wilson
Marshawn Lynch
Jimmy Graham
Bobby Wagner
Richard Shermam

I believe all of their contracts are for at least 10m per year avg, although I don't know how many are backloaded.

Michael Bennett
Russell Okung
Cliff Avril

Those three may not avg 10m, but they are close.

Now Chancelor is holding out !

They had to cut Starter Tony McDaniel today for cap reasons & he was only making 2.5m with bonus 3m.

I shed no tears.....

This deal is a bit of an over payment but with how QBs tend to get paid these days it is not bad.

I look at Wilson and i see a 20M a year guy with 10M guaranteed per year. Maybe just a tad less for both. They went over both those marks though and particularly in guaranteed money.

I don't think the Hawks will look back and regret this deal but they will look back and think they probably could have kept him for less. After this year Seattle is going to have some cap issues and might have to make some hard choices.

How is a team going to keep a guy for less when he's supposedly gone on record stating he wants to be one of (if not) highest paid players in the league? This is a massive overpay for a severely limited passer (but that's not why you're paying him).

I had a Failbook friend post this drivel on his page. My response: "Malcolm Butler." :D

They have 10 players signed who, between them, take up almost 100 million of the cap (97.8 I think). That leaves around 45 million for the other 43 players.

listen, I would put russell wilson in my top 4 qb list. He's got the mobility RG3 was supposed to have, the leadership that Luck Is supposed to have, and the winning pedegree that Brady has.

Russell Wilson is very similar to early days Tom Brady, The difference is Wilson just got paid crazy money early in his career, before hes proven he can carry a team, like Brady.

Now we are going to see if Wilson is as good as he seems to be(a top 4 qb in the league) or if his team has been carrying him.

I think Wilson would have been smart to take 4 million LESS per year, 18 mil a year is a good number for a star QB that is interested in winning long term. By taking nearly 22 million, he basically just said nah we don't need a deep team, I got this" now we get to see him live up to it, or crash and burn.
