Mortensen to address initial #DeflateGate report on WEEI

It does totally. Mort would have to have lot of faith in Dino not to out him as the source....

Dino is a pretty black and white guy I think. Mort asks to keep his name out of it he will. Dino may be a prick at times, but I think he's pretty on point with stuff like that. I mean, if it was someone else who leaked it to him, it would be a person at the NFL. And that person presumably would have a hell of a lot more to say.

I would agree. Dino is a old dog who's best days are gone but I do think to be in this business for as long as he has, you don't screw people over.

Can we add "(backs out like the ***** he is)" to the thread title?

I don't think Mort is Dino's source.

It almost has to be, unless he made it up.
Only other option is someone within the Pats organization, imo...maybe as a part of their counter-attack with the context site they leaked Kensil's name. I feel like anyone following this story was thinking it was him anyway, this just puts a little weight behind the accusations and puts some heat on Kensil and the NFL.

Unfortunately, without any national coverage they'll likely just let this run its natural course, the only people who really care about the truth are those in New England, the rest of the country are blissfully ignorant and will continue to be unless/until ESPN starts covering the 'framegate' angle of the story. Not holding my breath on that one.

I could definitely see Mort being D&Cs source. Before Mort bagged on the interview he could've said "ESPN will axe me if I out my source. But I hate that the NFL set me up as their fall guy so I'll give you the name. Just don't tell anyone I gave it to you"

Chad Finn says that Dino has a deep friendship with the Kraft Family.

I said yesterday half joking that Jonathan was the source. Maybe he was?

Kensil hasn't come out and deny it. Doesn't that tell you something?

Honestly, not really. Denying it is acknowledging it, giving it weight. As I said just a minute ago I think the NFL knows this is only a 'story' around here, no one else is talking about it. Florio has a following obviously but unless it catches on at ESPN it's a non-event.

Hell, I keep harping over and over to my non-Pats fans friends that no one seems to care that the NFL leaked and never corrected false info that led to this whole sh*tshow and they just don't care. They want to see Brady and the Pats fry, whether it's warranted or not.

Can he even deny it? For the NFL to make statements outside of the court room regarding anything Brady might bring Berman's wrath.

How does it feel losers? To want to be able to defend yourself but have been basically ordered not to do so.

Just a hunch, not sure if they can respond or not?

....and the NFL astutely knows this.

The sad thing is that this is 100% true.

I cannot believe the indifference (outside this forum) for the proven lies the NFL told. People want to see New England fry. They cheated in spygate. They cheated with illegal formations against Baltimore. They cheat by disrupting radio signals for QB communication. They filmed the Rams. The same tired, old, proven false nonsense.

The ignorance outside this forum is incredible. I hate to use an overused cliché, but it really is us against the world.

The ignorance outside this forum is incredible. I hate to use an overused cliché, but it really is us against the world.

I remember during the cameraplacementgate saga saying over and over that it's incredibly, incredibly important for the team to fight as hard as they can to get the truth out, to fight the PR battle because if they lose it the legacy of BB, and by extension the Patriots and Brady, will forever be 'cheater'. They didn't, they rolled over because they were certainly guilty of ignoring the memo and Kraft didn't want to make waves with his newly-appointed buddy Goodell, he knew for the 'good of the 32' Goodell had to send a strong message so he kept his mouth shut and took an absolute beating without fighting back. I said it was a massive mistake because they'd never, ever get their reputation back.

And they haven't, every single time the smallest thing is brought up we hear 'culture of cheating'. All borne from the Spygate nonsense. Now, when the team has documented proof that the league is railroading them everyone is saying 'too bad, you should stop cheating and this wouldn't happen'. Until Belichick is gone this team will be 'the team that cheats to win', it's such a ****ing shame.

What makes everyone think that Dennis has a source? He may very well have made it up. He doesn't have a reputation as a journalist and this is good for ratings. No one can call him on it since he can always refuse to name his "source".

The NFL has no problem

Yes, now Kensil could claim that he can't talk because of the litigation. But previous to this did any journalist question Kensil about this? Just a simple question: "Did you supply Mort with those numbers?" If he pleads "no comment", then he did. Otherwise he could just say one word—"No". Why didn't anyone ever ask him this?
